Once again, the funny things that pop up when you adapt the events of episodes far, far out of order… It gives one a pretty solid appreciation for how worldbuilding is exactly that - building. You can’t just start at the top without any foundation.

DM: You said “imposter?”
Twilight Sparkle: Hm?
DM: I was just wondering why you were thinking that.
Ocellus (Twilight Sparkle): Oh. Well… Alright, I guess it’s metagaming. It’s because I played Ocellus in last week’s flash-forward session.
DM: Hey, no worries. It makes sense. The thing is, while in the near future the changeling race is in resurgance… at this time, there hasn’t been a confirmed sighting in hundreds of years. You’d be more likely to find them in an apocryphal tome on legendary monsters than in any mainstream bestiary.
Twilight Sparkle: So the existence of changelings just isn’t on anypony’s radar?
DM: No security-minded person at this time would think “gotta watch out for this legendary race of shapeshifters.” And to be fair, there are other means by which a pony can impersonate another pony.
Twilight Sparkle: Any chance Twilight gets a sudden mysterious urge to study old tomes at the library?
DM: More than usual? No.
