After being shown the future, Smolder and Gallus instantly drop out, realizing ponies without magic aren’t any better than dragons or griffon, despite one thousand years of cooperation, the second the “magic of friendship” leaves they suddenly don’t trust eachother anymore? Even worse, she finds it funny that ponies lose their abilities as well, Pegasi who can’t fly are a nation of Scootaloos. Even without friendship, dragons and griffons remain strong in strength and retain their ability to fly.

G5 is the world after thousands or even millons of years, magic was something strong in ancient times, ponies were so powerful with magic they could build megaliths and Canterlot… (Camelot). some where powerful wise men, wizard like starswirl ( Merlin) and the Mane 6 and the Alicorn Princesses are LEGENDS.
nowadays just as in our world, those ancient legends inspire people to search for magic and mental powers, just like an episode of ancient architects, or ancient aliens.
How the F they built the Crystal Castle ?? may nowadays ponies ask.. and find no answer and pony researchers of ancient artifacts and OOParts theorize that legends existed and had powerful magic or mental powers?.
Nowadays magic is lost in that case, and maybe the only way to recover that magic is reuniting the pony races in harmony again.
But it’s true.
That’s a rather bleak outlook. Nothing lasts forever so why try anything at all?
Arguably hundred years of harmony and unity are still better than none. And since it’s describes as ancient past it may have lasted several centuries.

They just gave up knowing it was pointless, that all the hard work would eventually only lead to all nations once again distrusting eachother, and being back at square zero, cause now the ponies have been Balkanized into three separate nations. A freaking holiday was dedicated to the unity of their species and then all of a sudden they no longer trust eachother?

Well others claimed Ponies were better, even though they suck at fighting off invasions.
Griffons are better off without ponies as are dragons.

It’s better that the other creatures are free from Pony cultural imperialism. I’m all for ponies becoming friends again, but they had too much power by the end of Season 9, this evens things out.
Oh yes, that sure sounds like the moral victors right there.
