M16 was useful if it didn’t jam. Bullets fragmented and did plenty of damage.
As for the supposed “unreliability” of the M16, it was because the manufacturer was a douchebag and billed it as “self cleaning”, ergo, soldiers didn’t clean their guns, and they named in engagements.
Kit carson scouts were often ex-viet cong people operating for the US.
Captured enemy weapon, given that the M16’s in Nam were only useful as a paperweight. Whenever the VC came across them they’ve leave they lay or break them.
