Actually, the article that nearly kick-started the online fandom was from Cartoon Brew, not Ms. Magazine.

The answer to is a resounding “no” to every point raised in the incredibly stupid Ms. Magazine article. Seriously, if I didn’t know any better I’d say it was a parody. What does that question have to do with this article though? The Feminspire article is reasonable and is nothing like the retarded Ms. Magazine article.

No, it isn’t. And there are still many things MLP is doing very right.  
But there are some problems (at least in EQG) that are worth talking about.  
I don’t think that bad body image is even an exclusive feminist problem but rether a genetal mental health problem that just mostly affect woman.

Tell me, where did we go SO wrong?

Ok, for the time being, I’m going to ignore the feminist bullshit buzzwords of “Patriarchy,” “Objectification,” and “misogyny” (trust me, there will be a time when I get round to addressing them), and ask a simple question:
 
Has My Little Pony become everything that the article from Ms Magazine was criticising it for?

I have trouble envisioning that there still exists this alleged “girls wear skirts, or else they aren’t normal” oppression in society and that this show will somehow cause society itself to revert back to the rigid gender norms of yesteryear. I can, however, envision toy companies clinging to statistic that support the whole “appealing to the target demographic through sexist stereotypes thing” ,and ultimately, not capture reality accurately.
 
The most important part for these sort of shows is to not degrade people who don’t completely conform to the ideals of their gender and not say that there are “womanly” and “manly” things in the world and the punishment will be ridicule from your peers. Luckily, not once, during the entire original show’s runtime, have I seen this sort of gender policing done (no disparaging comments of Spike wearing an apron or Rainbow’s tomboyish behavior have been made) so I have faith that the designs are just executive meddling and the final product will be something much better and nuanced as far as gender politics is concerned.
