You know, you can’t help but think that the Heart’s Warming Eve play is meant to be a political satire lampooning the ponies’ governments in the pre-Equestria days. And if the play has any kernal of truth in it, those governments were pretty grim, actually:
- The Unicorns were ruled by petty, luxury-loving, slave-driving monarchs.
- The Pegasi were a regimented society led by violent warlords.
- The Earth Ponies had a democracy, but their elected leaders were knaves and fools.
