They all apparently have the same “=” cutie mark as well as weird wacky grins. (I want to say Changelings, and someone else suggested Story of the Blanks…)
Equestria seems pretty modern enough to me. Not to mention 1/3 of the species can fly. So any “official castle cartographer” or whoever really that happens to fly over the town should have noticed and reported it to SOMEBODY. Even if they don’t have the magical train that goes to every corner of Equestria running through their town and they’re “off the grid”, SOMEBODY should still notice something is up.
Ba dum tss.
Maybe if they all had “+” signs instead of “=” signs, they wouldn’t be so nonplussed?
She can only be aware of the existence of such a town, if someone tells her about it. You can’t compare Equestria to a 21st century´country. Without the Internet or telephones or even a telegraph network it’s easy to see how a cult in a small, isolated town somewhere at the edge of the map hasn’t been noticed by the authorities.
I only caught part of it myself, actually. But I thought their Camazotz was appropriately creepy with people acting like clones of one another, moving in synch like robots. Equality, indeed.
That TV movie adaptation of that book was awful… I couldn’t even finish it, so I didn’t see what they did with Camazotz, The Man with Red Eyes, and IT, though I heard they screwed THOSE up as well…
It’s the pony version of Camazotz.

You guys are using the wrong term anyway; “omnipotent” means “all-powerful.” The term meaning “all-knowing” would be “omniscient.”
She might not be omnipotent (discounting her Deadly Premonitions), but a monarch should at least be aware of a village like this existing in her kingdom.
It’s unlikely, as noticed by others, the town is laid out in the same formation, and on this shot, you can see the tent banner with the same mark.
So it’s basically 4chan Guy Fawkes town :)
Celestia isn’t omipotent. It’s not a big stretch to assume that she wouldn’t know about a small, isolated town ruled by some crazy cult leader/ tyrant.
What I wanna know: how does Celestia not know of the existence of this weird little cult town in her kingdom.
Kind of like Ahuizotl messing with the weather in that one valley.
Hopefully, Spike is not parenthetical to this possible arc.
They could afford Weird Al
I don’t think this show can afford Tim Curry…
I remember some people originally thought Sombra would be a Tim Curry villain
Sadly, it was not true
There is a lot one can take away from this infinitesimal preview, but hopefully it will also have a story arc that lasts through the season.
I would fangasm so hard if Steve Blum voiced a villain in this show… Or just voiced any character in the show…
Then why would the character point them out and the marks themselves emphasized in bold, black color?
RESIDENT PONY 4!
Probably just some local tyrant who’s forcing everyone to conform to some strange ideal, like a religious cult leader.
Maybe they’re scientologists? ;)
Yeah, that’s my worry. A lot of ways they could mess up the moral and the concept in general.
So many, in fact, that it’s seemingly statistically unlikely that they won’t come at it from an angle that doesn’t sound bad. It’s like the Feeling Pinkie Keen issue except a lot worse and less ambiguous on what the moral is trying to say.
22 minutes of unicorn supremacy propaganda?
I can dig it
