Explorer in Training
“Affection, the gifted architect is making a draft in Beautiful Design…
The Options and Possibilities are endless when we connect and re-align…” -Owl City, “Designer Skyline”
Rarity has to be my third most relatable character in the show, because of the effort and passion she puts into her work. I tend to do the same with each of my own sketches, deviations, craft projects, etc. Also, I’m a really big Owl City fan, and the song “Designer Skyline” makes me think of Rarity, in a sense.
I tried to add as much detail to this as possible. I think I missed a lot of the background, as I was trying to focus more on the magic lighting. I also feel like I didn’t even add enough of that, as it probably could’ve used it somewhere around the lower-right side, where it’s mostly just empty. Rarity’s design for the dress she’s making doesn’t really look like something she would make, as a lot of her work has a lot of embellishments added to it, and the design in this hardly has any decoration (also, I tend to be a tough crowd for my own work, a lot of the time, so if I sound like a pessimist, I’m sorry about that).
All the while, I guess it came out in the way I imagined. Rarity’s pose and expression certainly reached my expectations. I added the neccessary supplies for making a dress, like the pattern interfacings, the sewing machine, the pincushion, and the scissors. The colors seem to match really well with everything, and the lighting doesn’t really cover any of the vital parts of the background.
