These days, I tend to be reluctant to use reaction images in certain situations for that very reason.
Wait… it does?
I didn’t realize that! Honest! D:
“None taken,” she lies again. But really, out of everyone in CHS, the girls Sunset spends the most of her time with are the ones who hurt her both the most and the least. It is thanks to them that she had to return to sanity before the repercussions for her actions came back around, but also that she could return at all.
“It doesn’t hurt.” Not that sanity has been a very fun place for Sunset in her life, whether as a pony desperately striving to meet the image Canterlot’s decadent court had for Celestia’s “favored student”, or as a human girl trying to make up for what she’d done and tried to do. She repaired the damage she caused to the school by hand. She wrote letters of apology to every student, the faculty, and their families. They were crumpled up and thrown, either back in her face or in the trash where she could see.
“I know I deserve it, for what I did.” The students and staff bullied her relentlessly. Every day was a punishment for that one night. Her textbook locker was often packed with trash or random things like silly string. Every trek between classes, she was either avoided like a plague carrier, or tripped, bumped, or shoved with complete disregard to the notion that she was a person. She was marked late for classes and in violation of school dress codes regardless of these obstacles. Her grades suffered in spite of the typically sterling quality of her work ethic, usually because her papers were damaged.
The worst part, though, was always the angry glares. Sunset loved to be looked at, so the venom she got from the others’ gazes always struck her doubly, as a violation of something she liked. Or triply if the glare was from Flash. They used to do so many things together, until she had to choose between her ambitions and their relationship -which had surprised her by being significantly less fake than she liked to tell herself. She took too long to decide and the decision had been made for her. One of her big hopes of being reformed had always been piecing things back together with him.
“You have us, Darling.” Rarity would say now and again, and the others would offer the same platitudes. But any group projects saw Sunset working on her own again, and any time she was invited to her “friends’” activities, it was exclusively as a spectator.
Deep in her heart, Sunset believed she deserved everything she was getting. She just dearly wished somebody would give her the opportunity to earn a less painful day.
After Twiligth had come there, and Rainbooms asked her to be in the band.
You’ll end up being a loser who just uploads .gifs to Derpibooru all day.
So cheer up.
I don’t like you sad.
