Perhaps her hive had been massacred? Even if she’s used to her children dying, all of them being taken from her at once is probably more than she could possibly handle.

I saw that! Good on you. His answer makes me really happy since I was hoping that they had enough heart to be able to feel heartache/sadness. His response about Calliphora doesn’t surprise me either.

went ahead and asked:

i had a question regarding the comission with myxine and calliphora, mostly if such a Scene could happen. is there a heart under myxine´s cold Shell and is calliphora like that to the other Queens, sometimes?

his reply:
Well…on one hand, yes, I figure they all have enough heart to be moved to tears, although it would take a whole lot to get them that far…on the other hand, no, the others avoid Calliphora as far as possible cause she creeps everyone out and usually only displays affection towards her own.

Oh well.
Unless you do it yourself, situations involving your own desires rarely turn out the way you want them to.
@flashman07.
Thank you for the intelligent exchange of opinions; I value moments such as this.
And so, crystal goggles on I bid you a very fond… Farewell.

The other potential problem here is that this was a commission, so Carnifex may have completely different views on Myxine and Calliphora then what was commissioned in this picture.

Maybe they do not feel anything, and never cry. I try to go off of what I know from Carnifex’s comments but they could be dead wrong.

I myself was planning on indulging in a long monologue concerning this picture, but apparently, you beat me to it!
My thoughts are exactly as you say, good sir.
But as for the existence of said history, it is quite perplexing to me as to why Mr. (Or Ms.) Carnifex has not extended upon his characters.
Or perhaps he has… I am still struggling to remain well informed in these matters…

I’m sorry to see Myxine (my favorite Queen) crying but I’m happy to see it as well. This shows me that somewhere deep beneath that cold exterior there is still a heart that feels.

I looked at this picture and I had two thoughts:

Perhaps Myxine is just tired of it all. Having the responsibility of the hive and her changelings, having to feed on the love of others constantly to survive, not knowing what tomorrow brings, knowing that other Queens look for weaknesses in her hive and herself and are always looking for opportunities to rob her of everything she has worked for. That would take its toll on a young Queen like herself.

The other idea is that perhaps she lost someone important to her. I was thinking of perhaps a pony rather than a changeling, since the death of a changeling is probably not a rare or overly saddening occurrence in the hives. Maybe when she was younger she ran across a pony that shared much in common with herself and thus she developed a favorable attitude towards this pony. She may have granted this one pony protection from the hive (similar to Miasma and the perfume makers in Manehattan). Now let’s say that one of her own changelings killed said pony, not remembering/knowing that the pony was not to be harmed. I imagine she would feel pretty damn heartbroken knowing that the one pony she liked couldn’t be protected, not even from her own hive.
