Description

Spike is pretty much the bravest character in the show. He knew he didnt have the first clue what the Cloudsdale Anthem sounded like; he knew he was going to absolutely super maximum fail; he knew that the eyes of literally an entire nation were on him and he had nowhere to hide; he knew he didnt have a chance in Tartarus of coming out of it with any shred of dignity left intact. And he went out there and sang that bonniedamn song the best he could anyway, because he had made a commitment, and By Lauren he was going to keep it. He was terrified and miserable and dying inside the whole time, and He. Kept. Singing.

How many other people in the show could have done that? How many people in the audience? He’s a little kid with severe anxiety and near-crippling identity issues, and he kept singing.

Spike is a hero.

A similar question to BP# 6FE0’s. Those who’ve seen this scene. If Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Chrysalis held Spike hostage in exchange for the Crystal Heart, Grogar’s bell, or something alike, would you rather save Spike and leave Equestria to be destroyed, or sacrifice Spike and save Equestria?

I know, sad moment for Spike, but sacrifices must be made.

One more thing. Being protective over Spike with assumptions about the letters, that “every living thing have magic,” and that it would’ve been “overkill” by using the Elements of Harmony against some teenage dragons who plan to invade Equestria to steal beds. THAT’s overkill.

And, there’s no clear evidence that Spike is friends with “everyone.” You know that Twilight is the Princess of Friendship, by the way.

@raw19
Believing that “maybe she had no choice” or that “maybe a spell that would let her send messages herself doesn’t exist” can’t be proven by just saying “maybe.”

Overkill? You think it’s “overkill” only because Spike wouldn’t get a chance to show off? As I said, the question is where Garble’s hatred of ponies came from or why anyone would invade an entire land to get something a little more comfortable to sleep on instead of rocks. You’re assuming that dragons DO have magic (which they don’t), but they can’t learn how to make beds themselves?

No offense, but the Spike-fandom is just like Chernobyl radiation. Why bother defending him so much since he’s just a cartoon character, after all? It isn’t worth it.

Maybe she has no choice but to use Spike to handle the letters. Maybe a spell that would let her send messages herself doesn’t exist? After all, every time Celestia sends her correspondence it’s through Spike, even though she has no way to know if Spike is currently even near Twilight. Celestia’s been around for eons, so if such a spell existed wouldn’t she know and use it?

And i haven’t seen a dragon use magic such as lifting, transforming or anything alike. I also haven’t seen Pegasi doing such, but it’s said that every living thing has magic. Spike is friends with practically everyone and friendship itself is magic.

Using the Elements of Harmony against the teenage dragons would be overkill, but they still have ways to make people talk. But, just like in Winter Wrap-up when Twilight didn’t do anything against the snakes that scared her, she also didn’t do anything against the dragon that scared her.
MurtaughTheDragon

Dragons are far from weak and harmless and have their own innate, magical abilities.

Such as what? When was the last time you ever saw a dragon use magic such as lifting, transforming, or anything alike?

Wasn’t there anything Twilight or the others could do against some teenage dragons? Use the Elements of Harmony, or combine all the princesses’ magic like they did to fight Tirek? Or, how about combining the princesses’ magic AND the Elements of Harmony? Twilight and the rest of Mane Six did many hard steps to unlock something most powerful, such as the Elements of harmony, like finding all the six keys, for example. And, you’d expect it’ll only TICKLE Garble because it’d be unfair for Spike for not getting to do something useful, just for once?

Having Spike handling the letters was a bad idea. Whenever there’s a critical situation, Twilight must report to Celestia, but she can’t because Spike’s not around. You heard what Twilight said in “Magic Duel” that she wasn’t able to contact Celestia without him. That’s why Twilight should handle the letters herself. It makes more sense since she’s Celestia’s student and a unicorn/alicorn, after all.

Like breathing fire and, in Spike’s case, being able to send messages via fire.

@TexasUberAlles
Well, you’ve done a great-looking picture, however. The only error is the description, of course.

Spike got all credit for no reason in “The Crystal Empire” despite all the hard work the other characters had done and the roles they’ve played. Like Twilight, she did most of it. Twilight figured out where the heart was, found the hidden passage to it, made her way up to the top in lights speed with her up-side-down magic… and Twilight passing the burden over to Spike was her OWN idea, and Spike only ran 20 feet onto a ledge and then fell. Shining Armor saves him AND the heart, then Cadance flew over there, caught them, and brought the heart to where it needed to go. Spike is NOTHING compared to that and doesn’t deserve to be the “Hero of the Crystal Empire.”

In “Gauntlet of Fire,” the question is where Garble’s hatred of ponies came from or why anyone would invade an entire land to get something a little more comfortable to sleep on instead of rocks. Dragons aren’t able to use magic, so they are, without a doubt, weak and harmless.

And, as BP# 6FE0 asked: Which one sounds bravest? Twilight risking herself failing a test that was given to her by Celestia during the Sombra scenario? Or Spike singing a song incorrectly?
MurtaughTheDragon

Derpy, for being a small town mail clerk who joined in alongside professional special forces flyers from the Wonderbolts to attack an impossible to defeat overclocked Lord Tirek.

Well, that didn’t appear in the description.

Okay, but… the result did turn out… disastrous. “The Crystal Empire,” “Gauntlet of Fire…”

Also, it’s impossible and no point of having a character like Spike in the show at all if his origin was that he were just given to Twilight to be used as a test-object for her to get access to Celestia’s school. No evidence about where Spike came from were ever revealed. Lauren wouldn’t say that Spike’s parents “just died,” or his parents “just abandoned him,” or he was “just left on someone’s doorstep…”

Which one sounds bravest?

Twilight who risked herself failing a test that was given to her from Celestia during the Sombra scenario?
Or Spike who just sang a song incorrect?

I don’t see how YOU can make such a statement by just saying “all this hullabaloo is canon” because Cadance and Twilight just “called” Spike a hero if you’ve already seen how Twilight herself figured out where the Crystal Heart was, how she found the hidden passage to it, how she made it to the top by sliding up-side-down the stairs… Spike clumsy fell during the delivery, and Shining Armor saves him AND the heart. After all that, Spike for an unknown reason gets all credits for that… Stupid.

...
They really only care about just one single, goofy fire-burping dragon, huh…

Wrong. Some might feel that way, but I was drawn in by the ponies, and only started feeling resentment toward them later on. All I ever asked was that Spike be treated like an equal, and that he get the spotlight as often, not more often.
