I seriously doubt the same would be done for Cherry Blossom.
Well the comic following in this fanbase is a pretty small minority. Compared to the show.
I’m just saying, the artist may have had no idea about that, or know but not feel that that’s how she must be depicted or that it’s as good as a show appearance.

Two of my fave G3 ponies drawn in G4 style. Something I’ve been wanting to try. It’s nice to see so many G3 ponies crossing over into G4 and I’m hoping that maybe, eventually, Hasbro will re-release these two. Not just in toy form. Like, having a prominent role in the show. The two sisters could be visiting Cheerilee at a family reunion all the way from Ponihabara, or something, and some big adventure happens.
That last line was all headcanon, by the way.
Though, I mean, why not? They gave Sun Shimmer a huge role. Hasbro just gave her a different name and made her a reformed villain.
So my guess is, “didn’t know.”
The comics do have questionable canon.
It’s evident they’re separate from the Show and EqG. If Moondancer can be introduced as a completely different character in the show from her comic counterpart. I don’t see how they wouldn’t be able to reintroduce Cherry Blossom as this here.
Remember, Cherry Blossom was introduced as Cheerilee’s twin wrestler sister in the comics.
Not everyone has read those. And not everyone who has considers them part of the show’s timeline.
