Twilight wasn’t on a trip, she was organizing books. Just a minor detail.

I’m kind of hoping that the time travel episode is like the last episode of Star Trek TNG and the solution involves the past/present/future selves having to work together.

Even with “stable time loop”, you can do it for your advantage.
 
One possible example: you need a ball right now. You look at the hollow of the nearest tree. You found a ball with a note “Here ya go :p”. After using that ball, you’ll buy a ball, travel back in time, and place a ball and note a hollow. Ta da! (You can even take out a loan from future self, with 0% interest rate :P)
 
And even if some tragedy happened, it’s entirely possible it was orchestrated by you, and person in question really is still alive.
 
As for finale, it’s sounds more like split timeline than simple single-universe time loop. (It can be complex multiple timeline time loop? Who knows.)

I hate the time travel stories. But that’s a card for a story and they can keep away Discord with that…  
Even Discord can’t change the past. I wonder if the time has an effect on Discord. Because he is Discord. But sure. Discord would be a too strong card.
 
The whole time travel logic works like the “It’s about time”. You wont go back if the things are just fine for you. And you go back because you wan’t to patch things which you don’t like. Then you go back because you can’t patch it.

I was hoping Twilight would get a mission before the finale too. Otherwise I would feel like a cheap repeat from the pattern we’ve seen in S4. Now I feel like the joke works better, with having the pony who wants to go on mission the most wait the longest. I would laugh even more if Flutters and Twi get send to a really dull location, compared to where the other 2 pairings were send to. Neither do these pony families sound like the most intellectual ponies in the world, so this is going to be painful for Twilight :p Anyway glad to see some Fluttershy/Twilight pairing after such a long time!

So do I. Though I believed Twilight and Discord would always have some love/hate relationship, I thought the two of them were on better terms with each other after the S4 finale. However now it sounds the rest of the mane 6 caught up and are even having better connection now. Eh I don’t know what to think of this. I guess I’ll have to wait and see, but at least we might get some funny paranoid bookhorse.

Also, I don’t feel too good about that Discord episode, feels a bit like a step backwards considering the S4 finale (I’d actually be fine if it were anypony but Twilight or Flutters). Oh well.
