I’m normally an incredibly un-fun person, but there’s a limit. People need their fun, and thus need their jokes.
I disagree on the philosophical matter of judging artwork by effort instead of quality.
As for overlooked, I do value that quite a bit, and I don’t like to nominate images with high score.
Anyways, this is my first post in this thread. Why don’t I normally go here? Because I think it would be a poor use of my time as my taste is very, very unusual. I actively dislike images like >>1850555 and >>1482057, and >>1739130 (deleted), they rub me the wrong way due to their “nothing is happening” nature; I prefer images like >>1614990, >>205266, and >>926054, because they depict an interesting action or story. I am neutral on >>1884110.
That and I feel increasingly I don’t have much time to do anything in the first place, and so can’t really continually check an active thread; featured image stuff is tiring enough when it’s just figuring out what to vote for every 3 days.

…It should be 100% safe with no joke images and focus on images with a noteworthy amount of time, care, and skill put into them that may have been overlooked.
