In regard of Sonic-related crossovers...

I know I will take a lot of flaks from this post, but what I’ve noticed lately is that whenever there’s anything related to Sonic, or a crossover with Sonic uploaded here on Derpibooru, there will be people who immediately downvote it just because of “Sanik”. I mean I am not really into “Fallout Equestria” and such things, but I won’t downvoting it just because of “Fallout SUXORZ!! DOWNVOTE!!”. It’s kinda double standard really, considering bronies who faved and gushing over crossover arts they like(like Halo x Pony, or Derpy dressing up as Link), but will immediately frown upon “Sanik”.
 
Sure, there are occationally some cut and pasted “artworks” and badly drawn pics (including one of mine) for Sonic, but you guys are really making things hard for Sonic Fans/Bronies like me because I enjoy both franchises. Heck, I even see a pic with angry Applebloom with the caption “Keep your Sonic crossover sh!t out from Derpibooru” got 26 upvotes. Did everyone forget about how much flaks we’ve taken from anti-bronies and mainstream media back in 2011, when the fandom was new back then?
 
To wrap this up I will just quote Confucius “What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others”, if you don’t like anti-bronies attacking you for enjoying MLP, then please don’t do the same to those who also enjoys Sonic. I think this is it for my rant. Please tell me what are your thoughts on this one.

I don’t think we are taking much flak from mainstream media compare to a few years ago, but I do agree that there are still spoardic anti-bronies bashing us. Overall, I think the hatedom has died down a bit, and not as rabid as it was a few years ago. Correct me if I am wrong.

Basically this is what we called “The silver rule”, it’s the same as the Confucius’ quote in my original post.

I never really got the sonic pony crossover hate, sure I can see it when people are doing forced shippings that really it’s obvious they’re baiting for a negative response, but other than that I think it’s uncalled for.
 
Both franchises are small cartoony neon colored animals, they go pretty well together.

I don’t downvote sonic related pictures just for respect the people who does like it. However I do not like this kind of pictures, I just do not see this crossover fit (for much as I love Sonic games). Instead of hating i prefer to filter that sonic related tags or just ingore it.
 
What happens is that it is easier for most people hit the dislike button than make an effort to not see what they don’t want to see.

cause people in hte sonic and pony fandoms hate each other with a livid passion even tho they’re both guilty of the same shit. and as Sono said, they’re both about colorful human-acting animals.

Actually, despite all the “Sonic drama” and Sonic-haters on Derpibooru there are literally tons of Sonic fans in the pony fanbase.
 
I think part of the problem is these “bad Sonic art” spam fests we’ve been getting on Derpi occasionally, which is only encouraging the Sanik drama. (And even making some lash out on even the “decent” Sonic pics on the sites, further angering Sonic fans causing issues on Derpi) The reason the trolls mostly use Sonic fanart to spam Derpi, is due to the Sonic series/fanbase’s controversial nature on the internet easily provokes reactions from people. Especially, now that it’s become practically “cool” on the internet to hate on Sanik, due to it’s controversial quality in recent times.
 
The official Sonic comics are oddly still popular though.

If any of you obsessive Sonic downvoters are reading this, tell me: if you hate Sonic so much that you feel the need to downvote every single piece of art that’s even tangentially related to Sonic, regardless of quality or content, why can’t you just hide the Sonic tag? Do you not know how? It’s simple: just highlight the Sonic tag until the menu appears, then click “Hide,” and the bad old Sonic art will be allll goooone.
 
Are you deliberately provoking the Sonic fans? If you are, then in the wise words of Calvin, “Face it, kid, provoking a reaction isn’t the same as saying something significant!”
 
Is it about the quality of the art? I doubt that, since even the well-made art gets this treatment, but if you are, might I recommend a little constructive criticism instead?
 
Do you think it’s funny? If so, WHY?! Where is the humor in hating Sonic for the sake of hating Sonic?  
You’re just saying “I hate Sonic, I hate Sonic’ over and over again. You’re like Grouchy Smurf, except he hated more than one thing. You are a one-note version of a character who was already one-note.
 
For fun? If so, it’s sad that you can’t think of anything more fun than clicking red arrows all day.
 
If it’s not any of those, then you tell me. I really can’t fathom why spewing endless hate at a particular video game character you could just as easily ignore is the hill you want to die on.

I’ve been trying to ask them that myself, but it’s like talking to a wall. It’s odd, considering I don’t see Nintendo-haters downvoting every Nintendo or Mario fanart piece here, or complaining on ‘em. Nor the animé haters doing that on all the other crossover pics.
 
But like I said, I think part of the problem is those trolls doing mass-uploads of bad or mediocre Sonic pics that drives the Sonic-haters here to get sick of the character/series, and mass downvote & leave hate comments on even the tolerable, or even good Sonic-related pics as a means of revenge. Ironically, the Sonic-haters reacting that way is just encouraging the trolls to spam more Sonic pics in mass uploads, to further provoke them, or perhaps get back at them for bashing Sonic.
 
So it’s a rather messed up rut.

But that doesn’t explain why they can’t just hide the Sonic tag.

Some actually admitted on some Sonic tagged pics they derive pleasure from downvoting Sonic pics, and are proud of it. Some just like to complain, or have an irrational hatred of that hedgehog. (Then complain about pony-haters obsessively bashing MLP… Irony!)
 
Though, the admins look down on those who mass downvote images, and some got in trouble for doing that. (So they better be careful.) I remember a few guys got temp-banned for posting/spamming anti-Sonic macro images on numerous Sonic-tagged pics too.
 
I don’t know what’s worse sometimes, the Sonic spam fests, or the Sonic haters?
 
PS: Before anyone twists my comments, I’m not saying anyone who dislikes Sonic is “bad,” (heck, I don’t love every Sonic game either) just the ones who obsess over it. (Who are no better then the rabid pro-Sonic fans.)

How about, I downvote SonicxPony art because I just dont like the Sonic franchise? This isnt some big convoluted conspiracy where I merciless hunt down and downvote every single sonic image on Derpi. Honestly, who even has that kind of time?
 
I just dont like Sonic, is that a crime now? To not like something? This is Derpibooru, a pony image board, and there’s way worse stuff that can equally or more worthy of a discussion here on what gets or does not get downvoted. I dont go to Sonic image boards or galleries and bash those people for liking their little blue fast hedgehog because I do grasp why they like him. Its for the same reason I like ponies; its a very large and ever growing fandom full of very deep characters and good themes that never ceases to entertain me. You feel the same way about Sonic, but I just dont.
 
The fact I downvote these images is FAIR. That’s not the word you want to see here, but it is true. You upload an image that I dont like, then I wont like it. The end. You cant force me to like them. I dont like Sonic’s art style. I dont like his games. I dont like the menagerie of woodland creatures that make up his universe. I dont like his character. And I have the right to not like those things.
 
You cannot say to me: ‘well you just dont like him because you havent tried playing games, watching his cartoons, etc.’ That would be a huge waste of time on my part to do all that homework just to reach the same conclusion that I dont like Sonic.
 
Wouldnt it just be easier to not try force fusing these fandoms and leave it all alone?

I actually do have an account here. I also post art under it, but that wasnt my point in my argument. I dont hunt down and downvote Sonic images, that is what I do. But if I see a badly done Sonic crossover, then yes, I will downvote it. Same as if I see a really good piece, I will Upvote it.
 
There’s a reason the downvote exists, you cant tell me not to use it just because I have an opinion that isnt agreeable to you. I’m not trying to be antagonistic here, I’m just trying to make my opinion as reasonable as possible.

You’d be surprised how far people will go just because they dislike something. According to TSP, one user made several accounts in the double digits just to downvote a Flashlight image that was featured.
 
Also, no one is saying you have to like Sonic fanart. That’s fine. But the reason filters exist is so you can hide the stuff that you don’t like and not worry about crossing it ever again . The downvote feature was made for images that act offensive on purpose, troll, etc not because you don’t like something.

I don’t care for Halo, Fallout, Korra, and a bunch of other series referenced in many pics here, but I don’t downvote them just ‘cause they’re a video game, cartoon, anime, ect. series I don’t like. I just ignore them, or don’t bother with them.
 
In fact, I’ve actually upvoted & faved a few crossover images of series I’m not a fan of here, because I found them well-drawn. I don’t know why others here can’t be that way either. I understand the Sonic series is a bit controversial, but some really go overboard with the trendy hate of him. (Not saying you are.)
 
You’re free to hate the hedgehog all you want, but downvoting ’em rather then filtering them (if seeing ’em upsets you that much) is kinda petty on your part. If people treated every series like that, EVERY crossover/reference/parody image on this site would be in negative scores. Even more beloved stuff like Mario.
