Well, originally, this was the Cutie Mark that I designed, but I coulndn’t make it fit properly in the body:
 

 
This represents my spirit of curiosity and desires to know more and meet different countries (you know, birds fly and emigrate to other places), also what does birds have? Feathers! I love to draw, and also I enjoy writing, I even have a personal blog were I throw everything that I want, like ideas, etc. Also I have a passion with flying.
 
That’s basically the meaning, it’s a mix of passion and what I love to do. But now it’s shorter because I had to cut the Cutie Mark. I will see if I can fix it because I loved my first design.

Hmm, a clock with a lightning inside of it, I’m intrigued…  
Maybe your OC is very methodical, or is it fast at solving stuff?

Actually Cyan’s special talent is efficiency. Cyan’s can do something much more efficient compare to everyone around him. When I do comic of him. I probably will explore this more and give more information about it even change a few detail from what will I give to you here. But for now It’s just efficiency. And because of the efficiency he can master large number spell like simple levitation to complex spell like butterfly wings. (And yeah when he was a bully he use his magic ability to gain an upper-hand)
 
Fun fact : Short hand pointing at 4 while the long hand pointing at 2.

Well, that sounds interesting! I’m looking forward to the comic that you have planned.

Since we’re talking about buttmarks, might as well talk about the ones for the two pones i posted earlier, Bittergreen and Midnight Dew.
 
Bittergreen’s mark is a nettle leaf and flower. Chose the nettle because i think that jagged leaf is a fairly recognisable example of a nasty plant you don’t want to touch. It’s also what i based her mane and tail design on.
 
Can be interpreted as either a symbol for her interest in unpleasant plants or her prickly personality.
 

 
For Midnight Dew it’s a bit more straightforward; a dreamcatcher CM for the dreamcatcher pony. A fairly obvious choice since her special talent has to do with dreams. It’s a bit simple in design, but straightforward.
 
An alternate design i had for her mark included one big feather instead of the three tiny ones, but i’ve been using the other one for the most part.
 

 
I kinda prefer this one, but i find the big white feather a bit on the nose. Not really a big deal either way though.

I like the design of the Cutie Mark of the last one, while it’s simple, I like the colors combination.

While we’re on the topic of cutie marks, I’m trying to make one for the OC I posted before (@Litrojia), and here’s a basic idea of what I’m thinking.  
 
I wanted a horseshoe/hoofprint and a flower to represent Creekseed’s interest in the outdoors. I’m no artist, and this is my first OC, so making a cutie mark is tough. Any ideas for improvement?

It can be a bit of a learning curve, but Inkscape is pretty good for making cutie marks. Just find a few references you can copy then go from there.

Thanks for the advice. I usually use Paint.net (essentially a step up from MS Paint) for my image-editing needs. I’ll give Inkscape a shot.

I recommend to you “Ponyscape”, it’s like Inskcape but with a few improvements that helps a lot with the lines when doing vectors (also it comes with the color scheme of different characters).
 
About the Cutie Mark itself, I think that at the moment your idea is going very well, it’s simple and it would correctly fit in the body. Maybe to the flower you can add it a bit more of complexity/colors, like this:

Or you can variate a bit the colors without adding more complexity. For example, the petals can be red.

I’ll look at Ponyscape too. However, as far as I can tell, it’s been discontinued and there isn’t a working download. Inkscape has a bit of a learning curve as-is.
 
I was looking at various types of flowers, but for the sake of simplicity, I decided I’d stick with a basic flower shape for now. Maybe I can work on the flower a bit sometime soon.

IMO for a cutie mark, less is more.
 
And yeah, it is a bit of a pain. Took me forever to learn the basics when I worked on mine then trying to find out how to merge points so I could make mine symmetrical since screw the rules!

i tend to vector my lineart. I say a quiick and dirty way to learn how to vector is to simply look up a tutorial on youtube. Trust me they are in abundance. Just search “How to vector”

I’m just going to post this here since it is an OC thread and this is an OC related thing.  
You see dis pone posted below? I’m getting rid of it. I have no further plans or use for this OC. Her name is Moonshine. She’s a fairly tall bat poner that I had a lot of plans for. Eventually, those plans got scrapped, and now all I am left with is this half finished design. Instead of throwing away a perfectly good design, I want to give her to someone. If anyone her wants her, PM me and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

Ooooh. thats a lightning bolt in the center of the clock? At first I thought it was like some abstract shape.

A quick design of a filly with similar colours to Bittergreen, but with some warmer hues. Figured it could be her little sister or something like that.
 

 
Any suggestions welcome. Also trying to decide a name for her, thinking of naming her Sweetleaf or something like that, to make the contrast with Bittergreen really pronounced. Siblings with contrasting personalities, that sort of thing.

I’ve got the basics of Inkscape down now, but I’m not great at it, especially with ponies. When I vector a pony, at least starting out, would you suggest I trace screenshots of ponies or “freehand” them?

I like her colors and its design overall, especially the dreadlocks! We don’t have so many ponies with them.
