Silverstream seems to have purple colored pupils here too. Maybe it’s a deliberate quirk they kept in as a subtle nod to the movie’s style.

Yes I do, but they’re not natural stripes; she paints them on, which is why her filly self doesn’t have them.

That’s actually a cute idea. An OC using face paint on themselves is something I don’t really see too often (I’m honestly surprised given how many fun opportunities a person can do with that idea.

Thank you! That idea came from her originally being a zebra since I still wanted a stripe theme, but having an earth pony use face paint like that adds a bit of character to her I reckon.  
That’s something I’ve seen done poorly in some OCs - they’ll have certain details without a good reason behind them.

That’s why I try to limit characters I make with ‘special details’ and try to make them have a reason to exist if they do. Not always, sometimes I self-indulge, but I usually make sense. :P

Exactly. I guess it’s just about writing the character well; if you can explain an accessory or tie a character into the lore in a way that makes sense then that’s a sign of a well-made backstory.

Related to this, this reminds me of another oc of mine.
 
A biker chick called Goldie.
 
 
Her dad was a leader of a biker gang and the only family she had, and he died in a accident when she was a teen, and she wears her dads old helmet to honour him, and almost never takes it off (even when she’s sleeping)

Yeah, Lightning Stripe has something like that. Normally she’d absorb electricity and it would go straight into the ground like a lightning rod, but her socks block that ability so she can store that energy for later use, so while socks are a generally overdone accessory, Lightning actually has a practical use for them.

That’s a pretty good character. Personally, I feel the chartreuse yellow of the eyes clashes a bit with the golden yellow of the mane, but otherwise it’s a really nice colour scheme. ^^
