So, here’s what I got so far:  

 
Her coat was even darker (to the point of the outline being brighter) at first, but that clashes with a lot of things (like eyelashes). She’s supposed to be from Somnambula, hence the eyeliner(?) and squared lashes found on some Somnambulans. The skirt is also modeled after the dresses some background mares wear there, with the semi-transparency being taken straight from the queen of accents herself.  
I’m mostly unsure about the colors (especially mane/tail) and the tail-style. Also, maybe she needs a head dress or bandana, that seems to be common round those parts as well.
 
As for her character (because some people intertwine design and character), she’s supposed to be a knowledgeable, friendly yet somewhat shy mare; a bit like a toned-down Ocellus. She’s supposed to work as something vaguely connected to academia and history (librarian? historian? archeologist?), and her special talent (which she tries to somewhat conceal) is magic more specifically necromancy, hence the Anubis-like color scheme.
 
I’m grateful for any input, for I have no idea what I’m doing.

I think the colors look fine, however your contest on the coat fill and outline(s) should be more consistent. If it was an SVG I would edit it to show you what I mean

Well, in looking at that, all I felt the need to change was the front coat outline to match that of the back one. The downside is that there is only one coat outline color now, but that’s always what I use anyway, so, shrug. I also made the skirt thingy more transparent as a test.  
 
Otherwise, I think your design is quite nice and well engineered. The coat color is fine too.

Out of curiosity, do most people end up creating their own ensemble of characters rather than just a single one? I just wonder as there have been a fair few small groups scattered throughout this thread thus far.

I like designing so I make a lot of designs.  
I also have very narrow interests so most everything I make is some shade of emogoth.

I only have 3 characters, one (Stratagem) is mostly my avatar, the second one (Trophus) is the main character for a comic I am trying to write, and the unnamed unicorn… I have no idea yet.
 
I mostly make characters for a specific purpose, though sometimes there’s just an idea that needs to be realized. I’m a pen and paper roleplayer, so sometimes I just come up with an idea and roll with it, in case it is ever needed…

I love the design. It’s difficult to make such a dark coat work with such a lightly coloured mane, but it works well here.

So, after a little bit of playing around, I think I’m satisfied with her design. Still, no cutie mark yet. To stay with the ancient Egypt / Somnambula theme, I was thinking maybe a Scarab or an Ouroboros. What do you guys think? Any other ideas?

I think the Ouroboros is the better option because it contrasts well with the dark coat. The scarab on the other hand is harder to see since it blends into the coat, but it might work better with a green colour palette or be superimposed on a lighter background, perhaps circular or shield shaped.

I’m not sure if I ever brought this up here when I introduced her, but believe it or not Ducky here actually does have a partner.  

 
I remember when I first created her, I think there was a bit of an issue with BPs at the time and I just felt inclined to make her partner the original Default BGP. And then the update came where unique BGP icons were made. :’V At least it still exists in the stream section.

The bottom right is my favorite of the choices you laid out here. I really love her color scheme to be quite honest with you.

Exactly my reason for choosing the bottom right over any of the top choices. The Ouroboros cutie mark stands out and is eye-catching while the Scarab just gets lost in the coat and is hard to see. I like how it’s also green too since it matches her eyes.

Any good names for a Batgirl themed oc?
 
I’ve recently got an artist doing one for me, and im trying to think of a good name for her. (She’s based of the Barbra Gordon atgirl if it helps).
 
 
This one is a more lighthearted version compared to most versions of Batgirl. She doesnt have all the fancy gadgets and stuff, so her outfit and gadgets are mostly just stuff she has improvised herself.
