@Background Pony #DB50 : I agree with @Archonix

In the end, it’s most important that you do what is best for you and your health, mental or otherwise. And if others have a bad reaction to that? Then that means they’re prioritizing what you give them emotionally over your well-being, and they don’t deserve a spot in your life.

That being said, it doesn’t mean to not take others emotions into consideration. It just means to not prioritize them above your health. Definitely lead off with the fact that you’re aware how much you improve other people’s days, and that you’re not saying you haven’t appreciated the contact, but that it takes so much out of you to communicate constantly, that you’re starting to outright dread it and you need it to slow down for your own sake. You’re a person, not a commodity.

If they take it poorly… well, it can be hard to do this, especially if you’re a people-pleaser (speakin’ from experience here!) but sometimes it really is just best to say, “I gotta do what’s healthy for me, and if you have a problem with that, then that’s a ‘you’ problem, fella. You can’t rely on me to make you feel better.”

Best of luck, amigo!
