Ooo … I've had some, when I was visiting Gascony on a Choir tour. Everyone else was drinking all the Armagnac they could get, but that Licor 43 hooked me. Kind of all vanilla and citrus … and a little went a long way :) It was in college, so I think everyone else wanted the MANLY taste of Cognacs, but I had a few more years on me by then and just having something that felt good to drink was more my speed. Also, it seemed to get on some folk's nerves that I was drinking that in France, which is always a plus on a long tour.

I'm working through a bottle of Tramonto Limoncello right now (it's kind of the anti-Retsina; from the same universe but created by creatures with an antithetical system of taste), but when that's gone I think I'm going to find some Licor 43 :) It seems a good sipping liqueur for the fall.

PS: Why did I capitalize Choir? How … German of me.

I don't want to give people the impression that the mod chat is 100% pic related, but it can be 100% pic related.

(don't worry, fellow users of the site — in these situations we give the sober barkeeps the keys to the site … generally …)

In Shire Reckoning it's Mar 25, 6460. I don't think Hobbits quite figured out leap years.

Is it really a good idea to allow unregistered users upload images onto this site?

After nearly eight years and over two million uploads (of which, at the time of writing, 205329 were uploaded by unregistered/non-logged-in users), we've not really had that much of a problem.

The reality is too that it only takes like thirty seconds to register an account, so even if we did block uploading by anonymous users, that would only be the most minor of hindrances towards someone trying to cause trouble.

Thank you for answering. While I understand that there hasn't been an issue yet, it only raises the possibility that there might be one in the future.

I know that there's no perfect security, but wouldn't minor hindrances also help deter potential trouble makers?

Regardless, I'm sure anyone petty determined enough to break a website probably has a way to go though most security implements.

I think the Dolby Atmos does better than DTS or just Dolby.

When you get into something like the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in Lord aof The Rings, the other two kind of crap out and things get really clipped.

I've heard good things about Dolby Atmos. Unfortunately, I can't quite afford an Atmos receiver and Atmos speakers right now; and according to Dolby's website, the closest Dolby Atmos movie theater to me is the AMC Town Square 18 in Las Vegas…approximately 400 miles from where I live.

But for now, I'm fine with a Yamaha ATS-1050 soundbar in my bedroom. It's better than TV speakers. :)

It doesn't really kick in until you get something like an AppleTV or something like that — and even then not until you get to some really insane moment in the movie. It seems to show up a lot on Marvel movies, and on the Lord Of The Rings — stuff like that.

Weirdly, the original Superman movie is quite good at blowing out speakers with its soundtrack — and movies like the original Dune movie, thinks like that. Movies where they really invested in the orchestration and pushed it right to the edge of what the compression scheme could eat.

And, yes: I've gone through two stereos with the Lord of The Rings movies. There's something in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields that just pushes the sound to 12.. Maybe it's too many French Horns or something.

Sony stereos make the cutest "PWEOOOOF!" noise when they blow up.

I have typically used Onkyo or Yamaha receivers, Sony speakers, at least one Sony subwoofer and one Onkyo subwoofer. Mostly bought from pawn shops and thrift stores.

Yes.

Although technically speaking I was kicked out on my ass.

I did go back, and graduated, but … yeah.

@Lord Goku
Although I love Sony, I kind of have to Sony everything, because I worked there just long enough to end up with the chip in my brain.

Sony TV, Sony car, Sony apartment with a Sony refrigerator with Sony food in it, and a Sony bed with Sony sheets and blanket.

I managed to escape before I got a Sony wife and measured for a Sony coffin, but … I still get an erection when I see that "Sony" logo on a piece of electronics.
