Not trying to show off - Like, my car is from 1996, so … I put my money where my love is :) I just love music and playing helps keep my head square on my shoulders, and I’m semi retired so I work at an actual music store now. I mostly have Larrivées and Fenders, but I also have a Seagull, which is one of the sweetest guitars I’ve ever held. They’re made in Canada, so they weather being in Wisconsin very well, and are super stable and have an amazing tone!

Depend on which vikings that we’re talking about. Real medieval viking that invade the Europe. NO WAY!!, I don’t want to go near those guys, though they are more hygienic then average medieval people. Fictional Viking like in Age of Empire and stuffs. HELL YES!!!, those guys are awesome.

Wow that’s so awesome! I live in Canada haha I got this simple black acoustic guitar that I grew up hearing my mother play so it has alot of sentimental value to it, I love hearing her play so I started and now I’ve put about a month and a half straight into playing it, it makes me feel amazing

Have you heard Heilung? They might be just the right amount of “hverfar-viking” that you are looking for. They reach deep, and pull out the stuff hidden by the rocks and the roots and the moss and the mists of ages.

Oh! Dude - sweet :) That family tie is the best of all. One of my guitars is from my mother, too. I can’t play it without crying, but sometimes my sister and I get together and just do exactly that, late into the evening. It is healing.

I was going to give up after a few weeks, I put the guitar down for a few days but then my cousin came over. He got me to pick it back up and so that was the day I was finally starting to make something worth listening to, so it pushed me to continue and now it’s all I wanna do

I’m think the best answer is that I’m on break because of stress … maybe? That seems like a good answer.
 
I have a lot of old world military-style ideas about access and responsibility and chains of command and all that, and “I serve at the pleasure of The One” is how my brain sorts that out. So I reached a level of stress where I realized I wasn’t helping any more, so I resigned. I have been asked to come back when I can - which I would love to do and that’s an opportunity I’m not going to pass on - this community is awesome, and I love helping in any way I can, and the volunteer team here are some of my closest friends.
 
But for the next few days I’m unwinding like a broken clock spring, getting out my drawing gear, and I am percolating on some background projects for the site that allow me to remain involved with the site, but I no longer have keys to anything that I have to be responsible for, and don’t have any alarms going off around me :)
 
So for awhile I’m just a user again, and that’s super good for my stress.
 
Remember that big Tumblr mess? Yeah. I’ve still got a Trello for that I haven’t looked at in months. Maybe now I can get some progress on it :)

You, me, all of us are a part of the site. That’s why this place and places like it are so special; it takes all of us to do this once. Remove any part, and it becomes something else. I really believe that. And I’m still here, because this is where my friends are. I’m not going to do my stress any favors if I walk away from my friends. This is where my family is.

Ha ha ha .. no. I mean, thank you, you are very kind. But it has taken me decades to figure out how to just be ok. If anything, what I am is the luckiest person ever. And I’m still working on the “be ok” part.
