Inspired by the Vent Thread almost sending one of our members into a fear induced coma last night, and to serve as a counter to the Fetish thread, lets have a place to discuss fears/phobias/and nagging dark thoughts. Also, Halloween is on the horizon so why not work some spooks in here too ea?

Here’s a place for everything that goes bump in the night! Everything terrifying, mortifying, horrifying, and just plain ol’ scary is fair game. Talk about your fears and phobias, discuss events in your life that were particularly terrifying, or just talk about general horror topics. From existential terror to spoopy skellys.

I’ll start. I have a deep fear of wasps and hornets. It’s somewhat manageable now, but back when I was younger if it was anything outside of a honey or bumble bee, I’d run in abject terror from it. I learned it from my aunt, who herself would react that way. My cousin, her daughter, shares the same fear as well. I mean have you see your average wasp? It’s like an elder god cobbled together whatever he had sitting around his office and gave it orders to spread pain and misery.

Aw shit son time to indulge in fear.

My main two are:
  1. Speeding vehicles. Be it me or someone else driving, I have a tendency to grow really tense and quiet if I’m in a vehicle going faster than I’m comfortable with largely because my mind instant expects a horrible crash to be coming even though it has never come…yet.
    Muhahahhaaha!

  2. Marriage’s affect on me and who ever ends up as my spouse. Be it my parents, my grandparents, my cousins’ parents, etc my family doesn’t always have the best luck in marriages and that goes for both the wife and the husband. Marriage has caused them to do some rather OOC things during the time, but in the end they end up fine though divorced (my grandfather and father took it harder for longer than their wives, but have come up fine too). Don’t get me wrong, I love my girlfriend and our relationship hasn’t slowed down even with us being apart at different colleges, but shit man you could say something similar about them before shit went crazy and I rather not experience that.
    ….Too real?

You’d hate me then, I drive about 20 over. Course I live out in the boons where most the cops don’t pay much attention and the roads used to be horse routes. I’ve got a bit of a fear of crashes, as I almost died in one when I rolled my car 6 times (actually wasn’t my fault oddly enough), buts more just the fear of crashing and not the speed.

As for marriage, give it 15 years and marriage will no longer be necessary for benefits and whatnot, so co-hab will be the norm. I too know that nagging fear, after having a failed engagement to a sociopathic, mother obsessed bi-polar. Needless to say that leaves a man a little gunshy.

Have you ever seen a really horrific crash or is your fear more based on the possibility of one?

I see that happening as well, but not necessarily that fast.

Latter, I worry more about shit potentially going wrong than the shit that actually goes wrong.

Millennials seem to really like co-hab, and gen Z is looking the same way. But yea, might be a little further in than I give it credit.

I probably shouldn’t describe my wreck in too much detail lest I lend credence to your fears.

I can’t think of anything that terrifies me. The worst prospects for the future I can imagine fill me with rage.

Oh wait: getting discharged from the Air Force somehow. I’m super paranoid about that.

  1. I’ve pretty sure I’ve got the jist of it from all your posts about it on the vent thread and all that.
  2. Don’t hold back on my account. Sure it’s scary in practice, but in a thread like this it’s rather cathartic to indulge in fears and phobias openly.

Just don’t go batshit insane like my ex and you’ll avoid that.

Ah, yea, wasn’t sure if you’d seen me post it before. It’s strange that I’m not more afraid of wrecks than I am. I’m a bit paranoid like I said above, but I think I developed a “I must be hard to kill” response as opposed to an “Oh god my car is going to kill me” response.

Truthfully, I’m worried the background check will turn up something medical I forgot to report.

I know I have no debts or trouble with the law. So I’m less concerned about that. But medical history is harder to remember clearly.

also…you know I can’t promise that.

Meanwhile drowning and underwater breathholding is my fetish.

What am I scared of? Doga.
It used to be a lot more a while ago, and I’m fine with the ones that are all chill and just lying there like “yo”, but when they’re all jumping around, trying to jump on top of me and lick me and crap, I’m just like “get that shit away from me”.
…Actually, I think I mostly feel the same way about cats, or really most animals for that matter. I’ve just mostly been that way with dogs because much more of them aree all hyper like that than cats and most other animals I’ve been in contact with.

high five for Drowning fetish, not my favorite thing but its hard to comeby others who dig it. ditto on the dog thing too but i dont consider it a fear, its more of annoyance for me.

i love the ocean and all the freaks of nature that it has to offer, the only thing i hate about swimming is the swimmers ear, oh god its the worst.

in terms of my actual fears i guess claustrophobia is one of them, cant get myself to go into those tube waterslides, used to when i was a tiny ass kid but not anymore. im also a bit frightened by open spaces, just the thought of something being endless is scary.
