The Yu-Gi-Oh! Thread

Just started watching the sub of Yu-Gi-Oh. I’ve stopped before before Yu-Gi’s friends take his grandfather away to mention some things I’ve noticed already.  
One is that on Crunchyroll, the dub is missing, which isn’t the case with the reason it says this is the case on the site is due to legal reasons.  
Another thing is that so far, it seems that people put themselves in the cards, rather than 5D’s where the cards themselves feel. I wonder if that will change before the first season ends or if it’s something that changed with the change to GX.  
Also, Seto’s pupils are a solid color for some reason, a technique used to how a character is hypnotized, mind controlled or the like, which is odd.  
I also saw a clip of the Battle City arc sub where Kaiba refers to Blue eyes as “his faithful servant,” which makes me wonder that will be in this sub, and when will he refer to them as such (I’m guessing either from the start or after the foresight gal reveals to him his pass life).  
Finally, it’s funny seeing Blackland Fire Dragon referred to as a powerful card, when it’s OK by today’s standards (and even than, since you didn’t need to tribute summon at that time, it’s worst than most monster above level 4).

I always find it funny that Blackland fire dragon gets referred to as a powerful card in though it’s only got 1500ATK and like 800DEF

Jack from 5Ds has a more powerful card that has more attack and does piercing damage, plus Yusei’s Junk Warrior is a lower level mon with more power through utility. Even Jaden’s Elemental Hero cards, while weaker individually, are great for fusion summons.
 
Also, do you find it weird that they call the cards by their enlgish names when they’re speaking japanese?

Also, Junk warrior becomes kind of OP if you use him with any of the Meklord Emperors and Scrap Fist.  

Holy shit, Yugi-Yami’s power is the ability to give people pupils! What black magic is this from the ruler of the Shadow Games!

I meant Junk Synchron, but goofed up. And wow that card looks OP. At least it isn’t an equip card.
 
Speaking of OP cards, why was Negative Energy Generator never a real card? Just limit it to level 3 monsters and you’re set.

Negative Energy Generator was never made into an actual card, IIRC.  
If it was, they’d have to introduce a drawback of sorts in exchange for instantly tripling the ATK of whatever you use it on.

I learn that it wasn’t with a google search. And I’m aware, since it was used in the first ep of the series (not counting Season 0, which I don’t).

Sorry, Yami-Yugi is the heir of the Shadow Games, which isn’t any better. And if they weren’t suppose to seem nefarious, than why give them one of the most nefarious names possible?

Hey, Joey has Skull Stalker in his deck. Sad that I recognize that card since it’s a fodder card in the latest Duel Links box set. why are they using monsters with less than 1000 attack in a world where you can summon almost any monster with no requirements? And Why can Joey use Flameswordman when it’s a fusion monster instead of a normal monster?

I decided to watch a few episodes of the DM series, and to save up my thoughts and jokes on a doc and post them at the end instead of when I think of them since like my cat, I’m an attention whore.  
Gramps is going to beat the heart of the cards into Joey.  
Armor cards is a weird name for equip cards, since they include weapons.  
1600/1200 is the power of the most powerful dino card? Pathetic. Even gen 1 of pokemon had more variety than that.  
“There were no duelist there that excite me.” That’s what should be expected when at a tournament for a children’s card game.  
And calling people “boy” at the end of there name is why you’re not allowed near children in your off time.  
Pegasus uses hypnosis in the sub? Maybe Yami is misreading his power, but it is a weird conclusion.  
I’m not sure if they’re following their own rules. “I summon a monster, it gets destroyed, so I’ll draw and summon another monster and attack!”

What I’m failing to understand is why they thought it’d be a good idea to have a tournament on a remote island with little-to-no means of contacting anyone on the mainland and no medical facilities to speak of as far I’m aware, nevermind anything food-related like a cafe or soemthing.

Back then tribute summon wasn’t an issue and several times me and my friends used to stack monsters level 7 and above with barely any low level monsters. Also direct attacks weren’t allowed and we refused to use spells

They do explain that in the manga… Not sure if they do in the anime cause I only watched the 4kids one and that source is sketchy at best.

They don’t in the Crunchyroll sub (the rules at least). I’m sure that they’ll explain the Egypt thing at least.

And episode 3 is down. Before I share my thoughts/jokes, I want to mention that I prefer the dub voices of Yami and Grampa. I think deeper voices matches them better than the higher pitched ones they have in the sub.
 
How does Yami/Yu-Gi know Pegasus can read his mind now when he thought it was hypnotism before?  
So Domino City is a thing in DM? I feel like the Yu-Gi-Oh timeline is a bit crazy.  
“Remember season 0?” “We don’t talk about season 0.”  
Remember, Ushio is a highlander. That’s how he appears in season 0, DM and 5D’s.  
Yu-Gi, the beat you and taunted you. At best, you wouldn’t want to see them in pain because you’re not that type of person, not because “they are your friends.” That would happen afterwards when they realized how much of dicksnot they were to you.  
The main characters are given a handicap? How will they win now?!?  
I guess Mai wants to get a head start on the shipping.  
I prefer Mai’s dub voice. Her being a foxy smoker fits her better to me.  
I remember the Abridge series mentioning that she loses character development in the Duel City arc. Is that the case in the sub or was that 4Kids’s doing?

…I guess 4Kids wasn’t the only ones to include bad jokes/puns.  
Time Wizard is a card that I remember being a example of the show screwing the game rules, since it can summon a fusion monster without the spell card and remains on the field.  
“Your deck uses the Exodia cards, right?” ”Nope, I left them at home since I got lucky with them last time, and would rather use a more reliable strategy” “…There goes my dick move of the hour.”
