I know what verse you’re talking about and that’s basically Train’s entire schtick, they do these uplifting love songs but yet have these cringy lines for some ungodly reason. It’s gotten so bad that they released an ENTIRE song that’s nothing but these awkward lines haphazardly connected called “50 Ways To Say Goodbye”.

Drops of Jupiter by Train is another song with a similar situation, though primarily due to a weird verse that tries to do a food analogy that just doesn’t work at all and sounds more awkward than anything.

“Drops of Jupiter” is a testament to how a good orchestral arrangement can make an otherwise okay song sound beautiful. Paul Buckmaster’s work on that track is stellar.
@pixel
I think it’s actually called Generation Z, but it’s shortened to “zoomers” because we don’t have any other term similar to “millennials.”
I do have to wonder what the next generation will be called, though. Generation AA? Are they all gonna be alcoholics?

I mean considering how shit the world’s been lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next-generation turn out to be alcoholics

The orchestration is godlike and it’s a shame that it was used in a song like that.

Paul Buckmaster was great at making orchestral arrangements for pop songs, and “Drops of Jupiter” is no exception. You may recognize his work on “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, “Without You” by Harry Nilsson, “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon, “Terrapin Station” by the Grateful Dead, and, like, every Elton John song you’ve ever heard.

Really now? Even in 2001 this guy was putting out good arrangements, wow. Now that you mention it, You’re So Vain and Drops Of Jupiter do sound similar if you play them back to back.

Yup. I also hear some resemblance with “Your Song,” “Levon,” and “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John, which Buckmaster also did arrangements for.

Here’s an unpopular opinion:
I don’t actually like alcohol. It tastes like crap and I don’t get the appeal for it. I’m not gonna judge other people who drink, but I’m not gonna drink myself.
@ILoveMyoozik
He did some work with Elton John in the ’90s as well.

Beer is nasty, but fruity cocktails that have rum in it is pretty good
His 90’s work makes sense considering that he transitioned to adult contemporary which is loaded with orchestral compositions.

Dadrock is such a weak excuse of a term young-ins use on other young-ins listening to old bands.

It’s almost like good music is good music regardless of what year it came out or what generation first heard it.

Agreed. It’s hard to believe that this is the thing that contributed to the development of agriculture and by extension, society as we know it.
