So it was recently revealed that Chris Kyle, subject of the book and movie American Sniper, may have over-embellished his service record, most specifically his number of medals. He claimed to have received two silver stars, and 5 bronze stars with valor. Instead, internal navy records indicate he only received 1 silver stars, and 3 bronze with valor. His DD214 claimed the former, but those are done by a local office not the upper management of the Navy.
This isn’t that big of a deal, after all the number of medals he did receive is still rather impressive. No, the problem rests within the right-wing blog-o-sphere where talks of conspricy and nuttery are running about.

Rick Perry calls for censorship of the data
Rick Perry, who did everything in his power to fuck vets in Texas despite having served as well is now demanding the Navy effective censor this information by issuing a retraction (before the investigation is even over) and that the officers involved be punished. It should be noted that this wasn’t a leak, and that the officers didn’t slip information to the media. It was requested through a Freedom of Information Act request.
