I’m the type of person who sits on the fence alot, morality is an iffy subject and doesn’t have a clear cut way of thinking, at least in my opinion. I may be stubborn but I try to keep an open mind on things, you on the other hand seem to just hate people in general, not saying I don’t but… you really like the idea of proving other people they’re wrong

Some of that urge to prove people wrong probably comes from the fact I was a top student throughout school. I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.91 GPA in college, and my parents have always told me that I was the smartest person they ever knew. Of course, I was the first person in my family to graduate from college in living memory, and some of my family didn’t even make it past high school. I have a need to be accepted, but because almost nobody has accepted me or what I’ve been told is intelligence over the years, it’s made me very bitter toward everyone.
 
As far as the animal/human relationship goes, I have the luxury to feel injustice about it because I live a comfortable life where I can afford a vegetarian lifestyle. I can’t stand when situations feel unfair to me, and I use my sharp tongue (if not sharp wit) to brow-beat people for supporting what I see as inequity.

Also I just realized the massive incongruity of someone who watches FiM as religiously as I do and supposedly learning the magic of friendship being such a gigantic, misanthropic asshole.

Personally, I’m normally on the fence because I assume that both sides have agendas I’m not being told, and the web of misinformation and propaganda is so tangled that there’s no way my opinion could be well informed unless I literally spent my life dedicated to learning about it.
 
Compounding this is the fact that both sides in most issues not only thinks the other side is wrong, but that they’re ridiculously, OBVIOUSLY wrong. It just feels off. Like, how could EITHER side with supporters like that be completely wrong.

Man, I cannot stand word limits! Teachers tell me to write about something, but write about it in a minimum of a thousand words, and then wonder why I had to fill half of my essay with random BS. In college, this pops up everywhere, and it pisses me off.

It’s to prepare you for large scale academic writing.
 
My last research study had a final write up of, oh, 25 odd pages or so.

I hate it when I realize the point of something, and then realize that by going against that thing I’m playing into its hands.
 
The point of the ending of Chinatown is: “Forget it, Jake, it’s Chinatown.” A phrase encouraging the main character to not let the awfulness of the world bug him too much, because it’ll drive him insane if he does anything to stop it, and it might get him killed.
 
So if the message, ie the film itself, bugs you as a viewer, then by forgetting about it, you’re playing into the film’s hands.
 
That’s a bastard move film makers.

Boy, did I hate spending around five hours today getting talked down to by this 70-year-old man who would not shut up about how smart and strong he thought my mother was. I didn’t need a constant dressing down about how much I didn’t appreciate her.

Came to my mom’s failing shop awhile ago, asked for advice, and now is occasionally paying her for her kindness in giving him life advice. He’s apparently one of those honest joes who can’t say ‘no’ to people like his new, younger, air-head of a wife.
 
And that old fucker kept judging me like he knew me. I’m not a particularly muscular guy, but I’m one of the few around to help my mother move stuff, and she’s bigger than me. Whenever I was having trouble, he snark about how old he was or that my mom was lifting better.
 
And don’t get me started on his fuckin’ sob story about a drunk stepdad and mother that gave even less of a shit than my mother does. Like that’s going to make my years of fearing my own mother disappear. I’m apparently ungrateful and didn’t suffer enough.
 
FUCK HIM.

I get frustrated when someone tells me the point of something I don’t like, especially when what I don’t like IS the ‘point’. It so rarely seems to improve my feelings on what it is, and yet I always feel petty and stupid for saying that it doesn’t make me feel better.

Yeah, that’s what I figure. If the strength of an argument is compromised by the length of the assignment, then it’s clearly too long.

Yeah, though I did have a few fun ones.

My computer has worked consistently well for four years, but just today, it took just under two hours to boot up. This is a new thing, too. There weren’t any problems with it yesterday.
 
Still better than Windows 10, though.

Nothing you can think of could have caused the issue?  
Is this a computer or a laptop, because for 4 years, that’s about the average especially if it has Windows. Macs seem to last longer though.
