@Ainz Ooal Gown
Point out on time I said humanity wont make it. Go on, I’ll wait.
Telling someone they’re walking toward an on-coming train doesn’t mean them getting hit is inevitable.
In fact, I’m telling them the train is coming so they can get off the tracks. Because there is a difference between inevitably and likelyhood.
I point out that pollution is rising cancer rates, that species are dying off, that the weather is getting worse, etc. Not because I’m a doomsayer, but because there are solutions to our problems that need to be implemented. Our destruction is not set in stone, but neither is our survival.
If I thought it was all doom and gloom why would I say anything at all? I know humanity can change and fix things, which is why I’m waving my arms on the sidelines with two big pompoms.
I cite research and consensus to point out the existential threats we face so we can get moving and do something.
Yes, I’m going to go after the people who outright deny it. Because you know what? The data says they’re wrong. I’m not going to humor them.
But, I also understand that reality is messy, and that our solutions need compromises.
For every coalmine that closes, I want there to be jobs ready.
Humanity has never just put their heads in the sand and ignored the problem. But that’s what you’re doing.
