So. Warframe. Recently its developers have been in a lot of heat from its community. Veterans and partners are either leaving or very unhappy with the state it is at. Newer players are okay tho. New players still can easily sink 200 hours into warframe FOR FREE and have a ton of fun before they hit the “okay what now” state of mind that many veterans are in.
I’m no noob but I’m no vet either, so I still have a ton of content to enjoy from the game.
What’s this got to do in the VENT THREAD? Well, because recently, Warframe’s developer kicked out a community translator (a player hired / partnered by DE to localize the game) and the translator understandably made a long post defending himself. Mr. Translator happened to be one of the best community translator who has been doing a great job localizing into simplified CHINESE.
CHINESE. Jesus, DE. If there are two groups of people you do not want to piss off, it would be the Indian and Chinese player base.
What happened? Chinese users review-bombed Warframe with basically one negative review after another. Their sheer number basically dropped the review score and it tanked hard. Currently Warframe sat at a measly 69/100 in Steam Review score, where it had been in the upper 70 to mid 80s for YEARS.
Warframe is not a perfect game, but considering it’s an ongoing F2P PvE looter shooter with NO lootboxes, no aggressive monetization, no subscription fee and users can actually earn premium currency in-game by trading with other players, AND it having its own unique identity as the only “space ninja robot hack and slash third person shooter,” standing toe-to-toe against the likes of DESTINY 2, DIVISION 2 and ANTHEM–all premium priced AAA titles, I think it deserved a far better score than a measly 6.9 / 10.
