If you asked me before last year I would have said PC, no hesitation. Up until then, I had been a near-exclusive PC gamer for about a decade. After I picked up a Switch last year, my perspective has changed. I can’t remember the last time I launched a game on my PC.
There’s no denying that objectively, the PC comes out on top in just about every conceivable way. Better specs that can be upgraded, better performance, a bigger library with more exclusives, the longer shelf life of the games, mice are more accurate than joysticks in games where that matters; the advantages go on and on.
However, the Switch’s convenience, in my opinion/experience, makes up for its comparatively underpowered performance. It may not be the kind of trade-off everyone is willing to make but it’s one I don’t mind. Until someone makes a portable gaming PC case with a screen on the side that I can also use with my monitor with no fuss, I’m fine being a filthy console peasant.
