An artist I’m disappointed in would have to be quaree-mod. They had (or still have) a very cute blog featuring 3 ponies named the aquarium ponies. They had some computers issues over a year ago, which made them pause their blog. This is perfectly fine. However, they never came back to it. They didn’t even post anything like a “I’m not updating this anymore because of…” or “Here’s some other blogs I run that you can check out.” Just nothing… it was also one of the first blogs I started following on tumblr.

I can’t imagine how such a pleasant topic could unfold like this :T

For me, you’ve always been a funny as heck dude, and I like you, not only because your sense of humor is a bit different and it may make you look like you don’t care at all, but also because I think you’re able to see the funny part, even if there’s none. I don’t know how some people can’t understand your rudeness is a way to be funny, well, at least that’s what I think.
 
@ontopic: One would be that one that got annoyed because people were editing their art, and made it a big deal, thus making people edit more of their art. Ah, and I’m also disappointed in myself.

Loonadventure is one example I can think of right now. It’s disturbing, but I liked it quite a lot. No updates in three years now.

I am a former ask blog artist whom who gave up on a blog, mostly because I started to go downhill in my management.
 
For those who are wondering, I ran the the Feather Bot Answers blog. I think that’s the name? …My memory isn’t the best.
 
My art started to get more and more crude and flat as I started to rant about other blogs, like a self-inserted madman who didn’t like opinions and such.
 
Nowadays, I only post art on DA and here, mostly because I have more freedom with I draw, but even then, my art has a mixed reception.

Almost any fluffy pony artist disappoint me, especially the very talented ones. Guys, some of you are gifted…. for God’s love, draw something more worthy than fluffy pony.

The topic was never meant to be pleasant. I mean, it’s setting a “I don’t like this artist cause of…” tone which spews hatred.
 
The whole mentality of “this artist is a prick, I won’t like his/her art anymore” is just baffling to me in general.
 
People who take their time attacking an artist are equally as bad as an artist that is a prick towards their audience or other artists.

Wait now. Hold on a second. You’re gonna need to define the word “attack” here; cause it kinda sounds like you’re implying it might cover people simply saying they dislike/are disappointed by an artist.
 
Now, I mean there are certainly people out there who absolutely over-blow certain minor things to try and make an artist look bad, sure. But, at the same time, there are also people who whistle-blow/call out artists for the bad stuff they’ve done. After all, sure the line between the two isn’t exactly a fine one, but I wouldn’t say people who call out others on not crediting their sources are as bad as the people who don’t credit their sources. There are some genuinely bad things that can be done out there, and bringing them into the light isn’t always a bad thing.
 
Tho the spirit of what you’re saying is probably true: this thread doesn’t really feel like it was started to encourage lots of happy/pleasant statements…

I most likely used the word “attack” incorrectly, but the fundamentals of voicing your own opinion against an artist/user is a move to create drama.
 
Of course, artists (and users alike) who are being unfriendly, abusing no-goers should be called out on if a big portion of users agree with it or if a statement/insult causes dissatisfaction among users.
 
I can give an example; people hating/disliking me cause I started drawing MLP instead of furries and voiced their opinion publicly about it just cause they didn’t approve. Personally I wouldn’t take any opinions like that “personally”, but not everyone’s like that and I feel unnecessary drama is being created just cause of minor, personal disagreements like that. These opinions are just stupid and just personal, but some people actually take it personal that I switched over.
 
A lot of artists/users tend to not agree to disagree, of course… I just dislike the topic in general cause of obvious reasons.

My response succinctly pointed out that your premise was incorrect because you assume that ‘disappointment’ = ‘disapproval’, even though the topic in question is about the former and not about the latter.

I could see how this could have been contained in a more productive angle of “what do you guys do if an artist disappoints you?” and keep the response details generalized.

Oh, those sorts of fans. The ones who have probably never met an artist but feel like they’re in a position to say an artist “betrayed” them because he/she drew something they didn’t like. Yeah, they’re not really a fun lot to deal with.

Well… I mean… If you don’t like where this thread is going you could just ignore it. I mean, when a thread goes into things I don’t care for, I usually just unsubscribe and forget about it.

I’m in the camp of people still trying to figure you out. I don’t think your brushes with people’s nerves are just your writing - there’s a… “you”-ness in your text, image, and animated posts that people are picking up on.

Note: I’m not implying that anything needs to change. People will think what they want.

One of the biggest disappointments I’ve seen (by more than one artist) is identity abandonment. There’s been a few artists who I really admired (either for awesome art, or just for being an overall awesome person), who decided that for some reason, they’re getting a new DA/Tumblr account, announcing they’re leaving their current one, but not telling where their new one is.
 
Some of them said they just weren’t into ponies anymore, or didn’t want to draw the same particular theme anymore, and felt it would be easier to just get a new name so there’d be no expectations. Others did it to escape some drama or something.
 
While I understand such reasonings for doing so, it kinda sucks knowing that an artist you really admire is still drawing, but you have no idea where, and can’t see their latest art. Even if they’re not drawing pony - if they have a good art style, or are just a cool person to talk to, I’d still follow them regardless.

Not only that, she has been posting the reasons why she hasn’t posted art on her Patreon. Basically some jerk was trying to get her arrested claiming she had child porn and then stalked her and threatened abuse. And then apparently one of the jerks friends tore up a lot of her art. She has every reason to not be posting art right now.

Man, I haven’t heard about that… I actually bought Dim’s POV pack today and I was wondering why she hasn’t been posting much lately.  
Sometimes I wish we could just… weed people like that out of this fandom. But on the other hand I know it’s impossible.

Sometimes though people are TOO EASILY offended, to where its hard not to poke fun at them from time to time. Especially when people are too easily offended by candy colored horses.
