Backstory time for Howl!
Warning: A lot of reading, sorry!
*Howl Origins:*
The grey unicorn only wanted to be part of a family. Her wish would eventually come true but it would be a long road in order to obtain it. Due to financial and relationship issues within her family, her parents thought it was better for their little daughter Moondust to be put up for adoption as a baby. That way she can be with a family who can care for her. As years went on in an orphanage, parents welcoming fillies into their lives didn’t want her, they only wanted the young and cute ones who can grow up to be successful. They did not see these traits in Moondust, so one night she wrote a note before running away from the orphanage into the woods nearby. This would be the last contact she would ever have with any pony for years. She couldn’t survive on her own, without a doubt. But as she squirmed beside a tree to rest, a wolf had found her and decided to examine her. Moondust thought it was the end but instead the wolf seemed friendly to her. It was a mother of little wolf pups and saw Moondust as a lost child of nature. So Moondust’s new mother took her in with the pack she was in, and she found herself being accepted by her new family! It was a joy she couldn’t bear to describe, years pass and Moondust learned exactly how to live in the wild as a canine in the loose. She had forgotten who or even what she is, however. She does end up saying goodbye to her family/pack as they don’t live as long as ponies do, so becomes a lone wolf. Adapting into the night time predator she was raised to be!
*The Howl Incident:* As our grey wolf-pony grew she started to attract attention as she would unintentionally scare nearby ponies in a village. Living with wolfs had some perks, such as growing sharper teeth, heightened sense of sight and smell, etc. But when she was caught one day those ponies tried to bring the feral unicorn back to a civil society. It worked Not really, however. They managed to get one word out of her after much frustration with teaching communication as they ask for her name. “Howl” was all she could say, you can’t even say she spoke it clearly because she barks it! After “Howl” became more tame they tried to show her benefited of magic as she is a unicorn. She can only do the basics of magic such as levitation.[spoiler]There are a few things she learns on her own, but shhh it’s nsfw stuff <3.[/spoiler] All the hard work was for nothing as one day somepony forgot to lock Howl up one night. She escaped the very next morning wanting to return to the wild...
*“Not-So-Ruff” Life Part 1:*
Howl spent her days running around like an animal just living thecircle of life. As such one night she hears barking from somewhere else. Another pack in her territory? No way! She sneaks up to her next target only to come face to face with a brown pegasus with a frisbee in her mouth...
