And we have 6/7 months to stop so that’s plenty of time for someone to stop it, let’s try and think positive here, thinking positive is the key to winning and success to defeat this rotten proposal

That can also be a dangerous in all this. Why else do you think politicians drag along on purpose until the last minute when they fast track things?
 
Because they know the public is suceptable to outrage fatigue and low attention span driven by a false sense of security of plentiful amount of time. TIME FLIES when you least know it.

I think it will pass. Theres nothing on it anywhere. No traction. EU mps gone on record saying they support “artists right to make a living”. Stupid people that dont understand what they are messing with.

Good thing is. This isn’t a partisan issue. It’s a threat to the freedom of how people use the internet. Both right wing pundits and left wing presses alike have raised considerable alarms over this. They know this is just another move by the large and established legacy media to “price out” emerging competitions.

I think you can figure the metaphor out on your own.

I’m from America, but I fully understand why people would panic over this. Sounds like a violation of freedom of expression, which is a basic human right.

@Blossomforth You would need a pretty feisty lawyer to back up your interpretation, because the opposing side would start tearing down your supposed “compliance” from the very first sentence:
 
“Information society service providers that store and provide to the public access to large amounts of works or other subject-matter uploaded by their users shall, in cooperation with rightholders, take measures to ensure the functioning of agreements concluded with rightholders…”
 
None of you following argument applies, they could easily argue, because you have concluded no agreement and no arrangement that the rightsholders have agreed to, and this dictates you must reach such an agreement. If someone uploads something with Sony copyright tomorrow, you have no agreement in place with Sony to protect you from any amount of litigation they might want to initiate.

This is worst case. I doubt they have the capacity to go after every drawing made somewhere that contains something they own.

Nope, they haven’t. And they won’t do this, because this doesn’t concern private using. It’s just crap if you do this as a social media person like YouTubers, Wikis, etc. The problem is, that you have to be concerned about the reaction of the internet giants like YouTube, Facebook, Google, etc. If they really integrate their own upload-filter just to stay in business in Europe, this would be devestating.

Thank you for clarifying what the law and terms actually mean, though it makes me wonder about my own concerns still regarding impact on the wide web as a whole. Due to a great number of websites that operate in the EU as well as the rest of the world. We all know how much Facebook, Google, and similar pages have gotten focused on ‘linking’ just about everything together lately, and with all of that going on my worry is that the law may stretch out to affect a great number of things we are not even thinking of. Im glad to know that Derpii will most likely be left alone, but there are alot of other sites im worried about as well.  
In any case thank you for taking the time to share the document and explain its possible impact on this site. I guess in the end all we can do is watch and see how people treat the law and use it later on. This might turn out to be very minor, or it could just as easilly be internet breaking as people are fearing. That will depend on interpretation of the law and the courts later on. As video gamer, I also worry about the impact that may be placed on global videogames as well.

You see, this is the thing. hey always seem to leave certain parts vague enough for individual courts and legal representatives to interpret however they see fit. That is dangerous.
