If Facebook allows a modding community and allows adult content on it, it’ll be fine. Google and Valve really aren’t as clean as they like to project.

It’s pretty much a given that independent development of software to let people use it on video games is going to get nuked to hell and letting people use it on any games is going to get squashed . . . soooooo (bracing to dodge sniper bullet from the internet anger) maybeeee just this one time everyone on the internet, regardless of if they’re console fans, pc fans, whatever website they use, their fandom or such come together just this once to jailbreak the oculus rift when it comes out.
 
The reason being is that it’s pretty fucking obvious that facebook is going to close down independent development for it and make it to where it only works with facebook, BUT if you have hundreds of thousands of people working on jailbreaking it no amount of money will be able to stop gamers from doing so.
 
What I mean by that it’s pretty obvious the final version of the oculus rift will be marketed as, “Buy the new oculus rift! It works ONLY with facebook!”, but if you have hundreds of thousands of people trying to jailbreak and work to make it work with games then nothing facebook could do could stop gamers from playing the oculus rift anyways.
 
In other words: Just this once internet can we come together for the sake of porn?

There is plenty of such experiences outside of facebook. I’m ready to admit facebook isn’t free of worthy flash games but being facebook only and requiring a facebook account to play is always a limitation and made it a little less plug and play in a way.
