Some of those subgenres of funk have stuck around more than others though. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard any Nuew Jack Swing in over 15 (or 20, rather) years. Electrofunk is still going strong though, and classic funk rock surfaces sometimes.
