We all hope it would, but judging by Metallica’s last collaboration album (Lulu) and Miley Cyrus’ last collaboration album with a rock band (her version of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band with The Flaming Lips)… I don’t have high hopes.
 
Edit: Wait, this just seems to be a Metallica covers album, I thought it was a full-blown collaboration. My bad.

It’s still so wild to me that Golden Earring is the oldest continually active rock band. Americans only know them as the two-hit wonder band that did “Radar Love” and “Twilight Zone,” but they’ve had a long career since 1961 (yes, before The Rolling Stones) that spawned 26 albums.
 
Hell, even their two hits are pretty wild, since they had their first hit in 1973 and didn’t have another until 1982, nine years later.

I’ve seen longer gaps for an artist getting a second hit. Soul singer Aaron Neville had a top 2 hit in 1968 with the soul standard “Tell It Like It Is” and he wouldn’t make the Top 2 again until 1989 with “Don’t Know Much”

He was smart and figured out what was popular by making a slow love ballad with Linda Ronstandt, another artist whose popularity was starting to dwindle in the 80’s and brought her back into the spotlight.

Also, I was today years old when I discovered that Scorpions has been around since the ’60s. I had thought they formed in the ’80s.

Really? I knew they’ve been around since the 70’s but I didn’t know their career spanned further back.

Yeah, they’ve been active since 1965. Crazy, right? Though they didn’t release a full album until 1972.
