Not really. Musical genres and lyrical themes are two different things. Writing songs about dragons and video games or whatever doesn’t make a band metal or rock or whatever. Someone wrote a metal song about sex, drugs, and living the thug life? I guess that’s a rap song even though there’s no rapping. Rap songs could be about dragons and history and shit. I don’t know of any rap songs about those since I don’t even listen to rap but there might be some rap song that talks about all of that.

The closest thing to that are metal bands covering rap songs, which is a trend on Youtube

Maybe I should write a rap song about dragons and wizards and space pirates or something. I’m not going to, but it just shows lyrics don’t really matter when classifying genres of music. It’s how the music sounds. I’m not saying lyrics aren’t important at all, but they don’t define the genre.

The only way it would seem reasonable at all is if Anselmo and Brown got the blessings of the Abbot brothers’ widows for this endeavor. But even still, without the two latter musicians, it still doesn’t really work!

Yeah, Dimebag and Vinnie Paul were the musical heart and soul of the group. It just feels wrong otherwise.

Although, on Twitter I accidentally referred to them as “the Paul brothers” instead of the Abbott brothers, and now imagining a world in which Jake and Logan Paul toured with Pantera makes me cringe. XD

I think the way I see these is that they’re both broke so they just use the band’s name to hype a return for cash grab.

After the recent news about Ricky Martin, it’s safe to say Slipknot now holds custody of “Livin’ La Vida Loca.”

People generally loves reunions usually. I think this is the first time I’ve heard in instance that people would hate reunions over a significant reason. Pantera is that unusual case.
