Is new music really that bad or have I not listened to any of the good music from the past 10 years?
It all probably went underground, obscured by mainstream shit which is mostly done on a computer or with voice-enhancing software like autotune (so everyone sounds more or less the same), songs written by half a dozen people with awful lyrics, very repetitive and hypnotic with just a simple beat being played throughout the entire song. Even rock and metal bands from the 70s and 80s which are still around today don’t make as good music anymore.
I listened to Megadeth’s The Sick, The Dying, and The Dead, and it’s not really as good as the critics made it out to be. Honestly it’s pretty dull and sounds like they’re trying to recreate the 80s Megadeth sound but can’t write anything interesting, Dave Mustaine can’t sing like he used to (which is expected), and most of the guitar solos are pretty lazy. As for Metallica, I never liked their latest album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. I honestly prefer Load and Reload over anything that came out after that.
Genres like Rock and Metal never died nor did they make a comeback. They’ve been here the whole fucking time. I don’t think Rock (including Progressive Rock) and Metal as it was from the 70s to the early 90s will ever completely die. It isn’t mainstream anymore and might not ever be again, but it still exists. I just can’t find it.
How can I find good new music (regardless of whether it’s popular or obscure) to listen to? It seems like newer bands that aren’t awful pop/rap (like BTS) or so-called “rock” bands which are more pop and barely even rock (bands like Imagine Dragons) are impossible to find because nobody else gives a fuck.
