@Phoenixflambe
same here, I confirm.
Maybe it’s been hacked, maybe it was for April Fools and they forgot the date. Or maybe there’s some leadership change I don’t know about.
They said they were going to shut down the site on the 31st of March because they got a lack of traffic. Pretty understandable, since they removed what like 90% of the people who visit there go for. They pulled a tumblr lol

I would take over, although I had to abide by their rules. That’s fine, here’s my problem, I have no idea who found nor is in charge of it.
I think there’s some confusion in terms of site names and URLs, so allow me to clarify for those still confused:
Ponibooru (ponibooru.org) was the fandom’s first mainstream booru website, operating from 2011 to July 2012. The person who owned that site was essentially the only staff member, and they shut it down after they grew tired of running it and didn’t want to entrust anyone else with the site. When the shutdown was announced, they (along with EqD) encouraged everyone to start using Derpibooru instead, and here we are today. Currently we own the ponibooru.org domain, as they transferred it to us after the shutdown was complete, but the domain’s not in active use.
PBooru (pbooru.com) is the one that just shut down a few days ago. It was a more obscure/lesser known site, but was preferred by some because of their more “lenient” content polices compared to Derpibooru. However, it also had a lot of spam issues. Some people referred to it as Ponibooru because of the URL, but to my knowledge it was not affiliated with the original Ponibooru.
New Ponibooru (poniboo.ru) was an attempt by two people to recreate the original Ponibooru in 2016, four years after the original one was shut down. I believe they stated the reason was because they wanted to recreate Ponibooru’s community (Ponibooru was a bit more lenient on moderation than Derpibooru is). Unfortunately for them, that attempt failed due to several reasons, and the site shut down within a week. Based on registration dates, I believe they let the domain expire, and then someone else bought it and redirected it to >>5458. To the best of my knowledge, the two people who originally created the site, as well as whoever owns the poniboo.ru domain now, have no affiliation with the original Ponibooru.

ah, this explains a lot. okay for the very questionable stuff and anthro there’s still e621 and Inkbunny, but it’s still important to ALWAYS make backup of stuff you wanna keep. No one knows what can happen.

( ..I still miss Roboshi and his almost infinite tolerance towards all content there ;u ; )
@Luna
Just as an aside, that picture is a monument to how far atryl has progressed as an artist since he drew it. It still amazes and annoys me that he got so damn good.
@Phoenixflambe
A Ponibooru (and Derpibooru, here’s his profile) user who favorited almost* every image. He became notorious back in the day because no one else had done that yet. In the early days Derpibooru didn’t have faving yet, so when we came here, we used to joke about Roboshi not being able to fave everything. After faving was added, he got really busy.
“Almost” because even he has/had standards. But there are users here who seem to really fave every image.
