I'd argue it's starting off miles worse than the previous one. At least AT&T didn't annihilate over half of what the divisions were working on, or cancel the release of films and TV shows that were COMPLFINISHETED for tax write-offs.

To play devil's advocate here, Crunchyroll wasn't willing to let Toonami air any of their titles, even when they were under WB. They got lucky with Mob Psycho 100 (because of Funimation) and Food Wars seasons 3+4 (because of Sentai), but they've stated repeatedly before the merger that any other title that Crunchyroll had the full rights to was off limits.
That being said, selling it to Sony (which already had Funimation and Aniplex under it's belt) was still a horrible idea.
