Oh yeah, Pixar IS Disney. Well tbh I haven’t really been keeping track of Western animation very well recently so I’m sure there are far more worthy movies out there. But nobody can stop the Disney juggernaut. In a few years the mouse will own everything.

Of the other nominees, I can confirm that How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was heart-wrenching, I’ve heard good things about Missing Link and I Lost My Body, and people were singing praise for Klaus long before it was even released.
 
Moreover, those films all did more with the medium of animation than Pixar’s entry into a dead horse franchise.

I actually saw Saberspark’s review of Klaus. The animation in that is stunning, the way they managed to simulate 3-D lighting effects on a 2-D plane in particular is groundbreaking.

I definitely enjoyed and remember Klaus more than toy story 4.

The only reason Toy Story 4 won is because it’s from a brand (and company) that the Academy voters know. They aren’t actually required to watch the movies they vote for.

I watched Toy Story 4 in theaters. It was incredible.

I shudder to imagine what Spongebob would look like in Calarts style.

Not gonna lie, Toy Story 4 nearly made me cry. I wasn’t the only one. My mother nearly cried as well. That movie was so good.

Despite the good reviews, Birds of Prey ain’t doing so well atvthe box office.  
That sucks :/

Really, it’s all subjective. It’s like someone saying Star Wars is better than Star Trek, or The Godfather is better than Citizen Kane. It’s a matter of opinion, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Yeah but then they tend to add “woke culture” as a reason for Parasite’s win  
I mean every salty asshole on twitter complaining BMW v Volkswagen and Tarantino’s feet addiction not winning Best Picture is using “woke culture” as a talking point to be fair, so it’s less Joker and more “Americans don’t like subtitles”

I have seen Joker and I haven’t seen Parasite, but from what I’ve heard some of the themes that are in Joker are also in Parasite, and in Parasite it is delved more in depth. If that’s true, then I totally get why Parasite won. That doesn’t mean Joker is a bad movie in comparison. By all accounts, both movies are tremendous.
