@Beau Skunky
Pretty sure at some point copyright can’t be renewed.
Although In a video I saw about Mickey mouse’s copyright As that is also pretty close to expiring They can keep him trademarked as long as they want
Mickey Mouse is why things take like a century before they enter public domain. Shoot, when Mickey is nearing PD status again Disney will no doubt lobby to prolong copyright status again.
@Dustcan
IMO they’re probably going to take DreamWorks/Universal’s route and use a different version of Mickey Mouse (i.e. the more modern one that we’ve seen since the ‘40s) for “official” merchandise while enforcing its trademark claim. That’s how Universal manages to protect Felix the Cat despite that character being PD for years; official merchandise uses the iteration from the ’50s TV show (which he why he almost always has that “magic bag of tricks” with him).
To everyone who said to wait until we heard more to judge Chris Pratt as Mario, he still sucks. There’s once at the very end of the trailer where he kinda sounds right, and I’m not convinced it’s not a stock sound effect.
The rest was cool.
Kinda of wild how Universal went from publishing Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games to releasing a movie based off the biggest video game franchise in the world that could very well become the biggest-grossing video game movie of all time.
Oh what a surprise Found a video on Twitter of someone calling the movie woke because of peach. I can’t believe that the ruler of the land knows more than an outsider
@northern haste
Guess he never played Super Mario 2, Smash Brothers, and such.
@Dex Stewart
I dunno, his voice seems reminicent of Walker Boone from the old cartoons to me, (with a little Martinet, and maybe a little Captain Lou in there) so I’m ok with it.
Luigi’s isn’t bad either.
Keagan’s Toad is hilarious and adorbs.
