I mean, considering how so many April Fools’ jokes these days boil down to “look at this cool thing - APRIL FOOL’S!” and other mean-spirited shit, I don’t blame people for disliking it.
 
It’s like how “prank channels” ended up turning into outright torture porn eventually.

I don’t know. I’ve always been told that we shouldn’t let a few idiots ruin the entire experience for everyone. Like for example, what Erma did for April Fools’ Day this year, or that time when Pornhub became Cornhub, I like that.
 
…Also, take a look at it from my perspective: I planned the April Fools’ Day gag in my latest review in February and filmed it in early March, before any of this went down. How was I supposed to know that any of this crap was going to happen?
 
Then again, I’m the weirdo who actually likes getting rickrolled, so by all means take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I REALLY hate the “Rape as drama” trope.
 
Because it always seems like a cheap way to try and add in drama to a story/cheap way to make a character more tragic, and the majority of the time it focuses less on how it affects the person who got raped and more on how it affects the people around them.

I remember reading somewhere a list of rules in regards to character development. One of the first ones that came up was in regards to having a character who was raped as part of their backstory: Don’t. For precisely the reasons listed.
