Here’s the issue lads.
Increasingly, a lot of these kids lives are online. Their friends, hobbies, school, etc are all online. This has been made even more salient during the pandemic. Even those whose chief social activity isn’t online still have a sizable digital presence.
They have forums they want to be on, games they want to play, and various other social activities they want to do online. And many of those places also contain their school and life friends.
The digital age also means that a lot of job hunting, adult social interaction, and various civil functions are all online.
So, when you have targeted harassment, it’s a lot more complicated than just “lol don’t go online”.
Let’s analog this.
A child is being bullied at school
“Lol just don’t go to school”.
You’re being abused at your job.
“Lol just quit”.
See how dumb that sounds?
