Artists aren’t limited to a single genre. Welcome to Hell has some thrash metal songs on it (Witching Hour is definitely thrash), and Venom did influence Metallica and most other thrash metal bands. I think Venom started thrash (unless you consider Stone Cold Crazy, Breadfan, or Let Us Prey/Call for the Priest to be thrash).
