I’ve been listening to Gentle Giant more than anything else recently. I had a hard time getting into them but now they’re one of my favorites (same with VDGG, as I couldn’t stand Peter Hammill’s awful singing the first time I heard him).

I personally like Hamill’s singing, but I can see how it’s not for everyone.  
Same with Gentle Giant. They are rather unconventional, even for a “prog” band.  
However, since 2016 when I discovered them for myself, I’ve become a huge fan. They’re all pros, and yet they don’t always take themselves too seriously with their lyrics. Kind of refreshing
