Panchiko - D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, Stabilisers For Big Boys and The Eyes Of Ibad
From the British indie rock band’s 2000 EP “D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L”
Fun fact: Formed by teenagers from Nottingham, England in 1997, they originally released this EP before fading into obscurity… That is until 2016, when a 4chan user found a CD copy of the EP at their local Oxfam charity store (coincidentally in Nottingham). The EP showed charactistic signs of disc rot. The EP was since shared all over the internet, becoming a cult classic. Later that decade, a fan contacted singer Owain Davies of the band, and now (after most of the band holding down menial jobs in the interim years), the band are back together and still touring as of this year. The EP, meanwhile, was expanded and rereleased in 2020, remastered, but including a couple of tracks from the original “disc rot” copy (I presume for nostalgia’s sake).
Bonus fun fact: The cover of the EP is a panel from the romcom manga “Mint na Bokura”, depicting the character Miyu Makimura.
Fascinating stuff!
Though no, despite it’s title, no actual death metal to be found.
