For one, there is absolutely no scenery or variety in the landscape: its all flat and boring, with only fields of corn and soybeans to look at. I love mountains, valleys, rivers, beaches, and other exciting topography; looking outside the window here always makes me depressed.
The social and cultural atmosphere is also uninspired, and even if there is a good micro brew scene it is not enough to compensate for the many deficiencies.
Most of all it is the bad memories and disappointments that make me want to leave. Living here since ’99, I am in need of a change.
From the Mojave Desert in California, just outside of Barstow. Currently relocated to Alaska, miss the warm weather and some of those old favorite places to eat.

I totally understand. There’s something about Hawaii that traps you here, sinks its claws in and never lets go. Everything reeks of mediocrity, people doing the least they can to get by. Plus new Hawaiian music stinks. The old stuff is fine, but I swear if I hear another fat guy pretending to have a Jamaican accent while rapping I might have to remove my ears.
At least, you have the convenience of mainland cheap prices and being geographically connected to somewhere to move to.

Wow, it does look dull. Even when Wikipedia tries to paint a good picture of that state. No beaches, no mountains, and barely any forests.
