I finished a Hardcore run in service to the Legion some time ago. Unfortunately my poor laptop doesn’t like to treat Fallout so well and it runs rather clumsy and slow at times, if not downright crashing.
 
I hope to do a few more runs though. Looking at polishing up the rest of the achievements I need to get for New Vegas because I’m a whore. Just got the House story-mode achievement to get through and then I can open up a character just to do the Gun Runners Arsenal challenges.
 
 
But on a semi-related note I’m doing a Fallout RP, though I’m enjoying projecting my own fanon onto the as-of-yet unexplored New England. Probably gonna toot my horn here, but I think my solo adventures as the escapee sex-android from Boston is perhaps the best excuse for nonsense I could ever think of.

Well at least you got plenty of skill points and strong companions. Although I’m guessing you never play any casino games. Plus high luck makes getting around the REPCONN HQ so much easier.

Ye, hardcore was more a minor-annoyance than actually ever being in danger.
 
Pretty much just become a sniper or pack a ton of hydra when you go on amazing melee stints.

Implant GRX/Turbo with the knockdown melee perk is great for sheer damage and laughs. Endlessly juggling Deathclaws and such with a giant energy axe never got old.

I could never find enough turbo to make any time with it worthwhile. If anything I stockpiled it and never really used it… And I suspect I might have forgot that implant if I wasn’t maxed in my strength/endurance stats already…

Best thing about Implant GRX is that it counts as a chem, and is affected by Day Tripper and other chem extending perks. So you get plenty of free bullet-time/super speed daily.

My main is where I roleplay as a sharpshootin’ loveable rogue in New vegas. Full gun, snaek and speech. I don’t have a dump stat though because when I made the character, I thought charisma was useful. Still have full Intelligence. Hardcore Chaotic good.
 
I dunno why some people here don’t like companions. Being part of a sniper team armed with a rat slayer along with Boone carrying an anti material rifle with explosive bullets and ED-E means most enemies never even hear the shot.
 
Funny enough, despite both me and my lil bro(Plays a rare treasure hunter) playing New Vegas, neither of us have seen any of the endings. We always get distracted with something.
 
Also, despite how long it takes to get it, the Slayer perk is hell of a lot of fun

I used to fuck around a lot in Fallout. But that was when I had to go to my friend’s to play it on his 360. So I had an audience to watch as I break the game.
 
Playing it alone I don’t have that so much so I don’t have the reason to destroy the game’s physics and just sort of do as the game directs me, detouring to do questing as needed.

I’m not too thrilled with Energy Weapons. Maybe I’m shit at fpses but I cant seem to hit a damn thing reliably.  
I’m considering either unarmed or melee, which works since Boone is my favorite companion. How fun are they? And which one would you guys personally prefer?  
I’ll probably get a respec terminal mod and just console back my xp.

Boone’s only good in my experience if you go a more sniper role since his companion perk is to highlight enemies when scoped in through a sniper rifle. The one Super Mutant from Jacobstown or the BoS Scribe would make better companions for a close-quarters character.

Oh New Vegas, how I adore thee. No other video game has allowed me to indulge my diabolical mastermind fantasy quite like you do. You are excellence in digit format.

Melee and unarmed are very effective in later levels. There’s also a variant of Power Fist made especially for punching out robots. Just make sure to bring Med-X and some heavy armor if you’re going to go pure melee.

I found it pretty fun, though early on you may need to rely a bit on stealth to make it up to people to actually hurt them without actually dying. It may not be wholly viable for low-level and poorly equipped characters, or characters with shitty endurance.
 
Even then though, I did find myself ultimately going back to my role as a sniper in that game. But at higher levels melee and unharmed is pretty damn fun.

There are a more easy way to get the NCR Ranger armor?

I know I’m asking a lot of questions but I’m very finecky about rpgs and prone to starting over if I feel like I screwed up

I rolled with a melee-unarmed character given how easy it is to carry several maxed-out skills and I did fine.

Just out of curiosity, what dlc do you have installed?

Like soundtea said, Lonesome Road has a non-faction variant that can be bought as much as you want, but it can difficult to repair since its compatible armor pool is low. If you have the jury rigging perk, you can find one suit of ranger armor and just use other medium weight armors to maintain it.
