Well, made it through the secret desert map in FE12, and killed every thief. I also promoted all my fliers, so I have a platoon of dragoknights ready to slaughter the enemy. Now is the bridge chapter, which I’m not excited about.

I’m rather tempted to buy the Boo Camp DLC, should i pull the trigger on it?

It isn’t a bad choice. Though I definitely recommend getting at least one of the DLC maps, especially if you’re on Conquest.

I’m currently going through Conquest (I’m up to chapter 10) and which map do you recommend?

I have Boo Camp and Ghostly Gold (I think that’s what it’s called anyway). Of the two, I lean towards Boo Camp a bit more.

I’m planning on pairing up Mozu with Kaze, so I don’t think I need the latter, in that regard.

That’s fine. If you’re looking to level up your characters or build supports, Boo Camp is the better choice. It gives you more enemies to fight.

Nope. It’s not a “secret” desert map, just a desert map disguised as a forest map.

I like how experimental TH is, kind of like how the pre-GBA games were. Just wish that they removed the avatar system and made Byleth a half-way decent teacher.

Honestly, you could probably have removed Byleth from the game completely, replaced them with Edelgard, Dimitri, or Claude depending on your route, and nothing would’ve been lost.

I disagree, since he is the thing that swings the favor for his chosen house. Helps that the building blocks are there for him to be a lead character, they’re just suppressed by the “need” to make him an avatar.

Unfortunately, that’s probably going to be an issue with every game from now on that isn’t a direct remake.

Every new game since Awakening has had an Avatar. That isn’t inherently a problem, but I won’t lie and say that Byleth isn’t the weakest character in the game. The problem is their personality, or rather, their complete lack of one. I know the idea behind an Avatar is so that the player can kind of step into the story, but they definitely went too far here.

Yep. I do hope that they leave the avatar comfort zone in future games.

It might not be a bad idea for the next game to have a more traditional lead, and for the avatar, of present at all, to be confined more to the background, like they are in Heroes and FE6.

You’re thinking of FE7, since 6 is the one with Roy. And I rather they just remove the avatar, since you know that people will hate it even more if the self-insert does nothing and is meaningless.

Apologies. I always forget about Thracia 776.
And unfortunately, it’s very unlikely they’ll drop the avatar role. Awakening’s runaway success guarantees that.
