Should I just skip the filler arcs? I’ve heard a lot of mixed things on them, but I also don’t feel 100% comfortable about missing huge chunks of the show (even if the arcs are non-canon).

Skip the ones after the soul society arc

And watch them after the end. You are not missing much and some are downright stupid, however, you still get the whole story uninterrupted AND they can serve as a slight plus if the series grabbed your attention cuz they do have some moments

Dragon Ball is so popular in Mexico, that when the Tournament of Power arc of Dragon Ball Super was happening, Goku vs. Jiren was being advertised like a boxing match, and the Mexican government hosted the event.

Reading a thread on Reddit about why Dragon Ball is so popular in Latin America, and someone said that anime never had a big market in the Anglosphere.

Yeah, I’m gonna have to disagree with that. Dragon Ball Z was REALLY popular when I was in elementary school. I remember kids would play Dragon Ball at recess. (By “play”, I mean pretend to be the characters and do their attacks, not play one of the video games.).

That’s not even getting into how popular the Pokemon anime was.
