You know they’ll find a way to blame Christianity and conservatives for the crap that goes down in Europe.

It’s not correct to say Atheism is a religion, obviously.

But I know what people mean when they say it. There’s remarkable ideological similarity among the fedoras.

It isnt an ideology but it is an identity.

I’d argue it’s a relatively new manifestation of WEIRD psychology. Hopefully a short lived one as the destruction these cucks cause is unforgivable.

Yea, it’s the mass immigration thing again. “We’ll convert these barely literate masses to wearing fedoras and bowties huehuehue.”

Also you guys engage in rituals. Every time Sam Harris or in this case John Cleese makes a banal statement you come in reverent awe.

Cleese said that political correctness… can be Orwellian. Word?

I give you all this time and this is the best you can come up with?

Also dont get me started with quoting the true Detective guy played by Matthew McConaughey. From what Harlequin Jester has shown me, that guy has more in common with me than your average Amazing Atheist or ArmouredSkeptic.

Also Paganism is pozzed.

I hate how religion makes their God(s) almost too human just so he can be relatable, like giving him anger, pride, flaws (they don’t say it and reject it, but I’m pretty sure the idea of flooding the entire world while letting there be the very few survivors is a flaw) and for some weird reason, has to send human convoys to do his bidding.

He’s God. He’s an all-powerful being who can manipulate the very essence of existence itself. He’s not suppose to be relatable.

Hell, there are so many ways he could’ve solved problems without needing it to end with a massacre and I’m pretty sure he knows this. And yet, some of them are “acts of God” and all that bullshit.

In fact, if God wanted to make Earth some psuedo-Heaven, he could’ve easily brainwashed everyone and make it heaven. But he didn’t. And you know why? We don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t want to or maybe he finds it a stupid idea. Whatever it is, it’s beyond human comprehension.

Why do we treat God like human just to be relatable?

Possibly because it’s a man-made concept.

Any god that exists, as you’ve said, would be beyond comprehension. It’s why I don’t trust any religion that claims to “know god”.

@Whatevs

Somehow, someway, I’m going to glue a fedora to your head. You won’t see it coming, I’ll have to set up some huge, Rube Goldberg contraption to do it.
archestereo

Relatable or not, I’ve come to the realization that if I can’t even trust somebody that’s supposed to be my equal, then life under the whims of a “higher” being is a lose-lose situation.

…not that pointlessly living a life with all the struggle and inevitability of a bowel movement is much better…

Yea, you’d have to make me a dope who sees everything as isolated actors. That’s WEIRD for you. More or less. It’s the part I dislike

I could make the hat lobotomize you, that’d work.

Come to think of it, that sounds like something a Bond villain would use. A hat that lobotomizes people into stupidity.

Is there any religion where people are generally happy for the world instead of happy for the afterlife?

Because it’s beginning to look like everyone (who’s too much in religion) thinks life is shit. Can’t we just enjoy life?

You are correct, though it’s spelt contemptus mundi. Contempt of the world, and belief that it’s all sinful. However, no, it’s not the extremists only. Any Christian that believes in revelations, or in a strict sense of original sin, has some level of contemptus mundi. It’s just that the extremists and flagellates take it to more extreme levels.

Which is good because if you believe in that then you have no issue establishing your own order for your own.

However if you believe the world has an inherent morality (instead of just as a proving ground) then you’re arguing that Europe needs mass Arab immigration like Pope Francis does

It also means they have no qualms about destroying the world because “it gets better”. When doom cults get power it’s always on the backs of those who do not value their mortal life because all they care about is a future one.

The largest lie ever told in this life, or about the next is that people know “it gets better”.

Ironic how doomsday people who want billions to die in apocalyptic disasters to fulfil their “prophetic” desires are anti-abortion typically.

It’s still used to justify horrible things. We’ve had Christians here say we should care about any environmental issues because the worlds doomed anyway and Jesus will fix it.
